Default My 997 GT3 Meteor Grey (pics)

Hi all, long time reader first time I post. I'm in O.C, California.
Got my GT3 about a week ago from Hoehn Porsche, I was scared after all
I read about them but it went well.
I ordered a C4s in March but after seeing the promotional video and pictures
I immediately changed my order.
First new Porsche that I own, it's been amazing so far.
Very difficult to keep it under 4200 RPM.
Handling is impressive.
Was nervous when I ordered the exterior color center console
but I'm impressed and very happy about it.
Still getting used to the clutch and gearbox.
Filled up the tank at the dealer with no issues.
Front brakes squeak sometimes when lightly pressed,
dealer replaced them but same thing I guess it will eventually
go away.
Front lip is a pain, it hurts every time I hear it scratch.
Looks very different (much better) from pictures, dealer had a
GT silver which is not my favorite color but after seeing it live
it completely changed my mind even do I still prefer meteor.
Car came with PSC, the GT silver had Corsas.
I'll be going to PDE soon.
The only issue I'm having is that for some reason the upshift indicator
is not working, when I turn the car on it lights on momentarily like all other LED's but then nothing unless I have to go above 4200 RPM for it to light up
but I don't know.
Ok, here some pictures.

That's a beautiful car. Congratulations.

It seems that you ordered the Thicker steering wheel. I love the exterior color, but I would actually replace the yellow side markers with clear ones, because they match the car exterior color.

What's up with the front license plate holder? Didn't they offer to no install it and have you sign the form stating you chose not to have them install it? The shift light does not come on until you reach 82000 rpm. I now have 1697 miles on my Gt3 and it comes on often! It is a sweet color. Enjoy.

82000rpm? No wonder it never comes on. : )

By the way, peak power is at 7600rpm, so unless you're traveling up hill and want to land "up" on the torque curve with an up-shift, you're wasting time (albeit hundredths of a second) waiting for the engine to wind out in the lower gear instead of lunging forward under torque in the higher gear. And you're whipping the engine, risking a rpm over-limit count, etc. etc.

I'm considering Meteor for my order. I have one in white now, but doubt I'll buy the same colour twice. Please post some pics of the car in direct sunlight, preferably with something to show contrast in the pick (such as a stop sign or anything with a know colour/tint.)

And don't worry about the chin spolier, it's not expensive -- it's designed to take the scrapes and be replaced.

Gorgeous car!!!!

Very difficult to keep it under 4200 RPM

Well said! Like being forced to wear a chastity belt while sleeping with Britney Spears! I still have 1850 break-in miles to go. I doubt I'll make it, although I'm firmly resolved to have 2,000 miles on the clock before my first track event at WG.

Front lip is a pain, it hurts every time I hear it scratch.

Our dealer mechanic (a longtime friend) graunched mine getting into the gas station for the initial pre-delivery fillup, and the dealer ordered me a new one. After I picked up the car, it took me only about 45 minutes to do the same thing, so I'm glad I can regard the OE spoiler as a "training" piece.

The "service technik" book I bought identifies the front air dam as a 'wear item', much like tires and brake pads! The ride height is adjustable, so you can reduce the owies if you're willing to sacrifice some performance and handling. Since I do beaucoup track events, I'll just have to get used to the limitation.

Enjoy!

Very nice car! I like the thicker steering wheel in leather.

Yes they did but I already got a ticket for that on my other car so
didn't wanted to go thru that again, dealer replaced it with may I say
european style plate holder which is much smaller and it looks better.
8200 RPM????????? won't be there for a while.

I live and work on an area where AM reception is extremely poor
and I use it a lot, plus I can easily remove 3/4 of it if needed.

Glad you finally got it! Looks great. Did you end up using PFS or an outside company?
