That sounds awesome. I'm seriously thinking about that. RUFly, what will an RGT cost? Any knowledge on problems with getting it registered here in the US? Maybe wait till the 997 based RGTs come out. . . hmmm

RUF is a registered car manufacturer in America, so RUF vin cars are Ok. My RUF has (had) the appropriate approvals from the governed powers that were when it arrived on these shores in its big airplane cargo hold. (I am the second owner but have all the original build sheet records, invoice, etc.)

So used, with few miles that is compliant for U.S. , I will bet there are some in Europe that are able to be imported with minimal effort. Cost wise I have no idea. But Robin will give us an idea.

I have some pictures of my RUF and have promised to post them on for a while. I will try to work on that this weekend.

Thanks Pranq. Interested in any info people dig up on brining a RUF into the US.

I applaud your attention to detail and quality. That's the job done right. However, I don't think the cost/benefit ratio is correct for this car. At a certain point, better to buy a cup car. This is afterall, a street car in priority.

But, WTF, go for it! Hell, how else to justify dropping $8,000 for new seats (which I am going to do).

Question? If you take a cup car and install horn and turn markers the basic street stuff why can you not get a builders title and a vin and take that route.

The 997 Cup cars have a sequential gearbox that I imagine would be pretty miserable on the street - not to mention the VERY firm ride and lack of comfort features.

Maybe we can put together a Ruf RGT group buy
I'm tiring of PCNA's crap any way.

Having driven Cup cars on the street, I can say its not a fun experience, completely pointless in fact. Thats what the RGT is for!

I've been in a cup car parade during the Bahrain F1 race where a bunch of us drove our road cars on surface streets with the Cup cars participating in the Super Cup race. It was awesome seeing them on the street but you can tell that they weren't in their element.

For various reasons, its not straight forward importing a used non-US spec car into the US. If anybody does want a car with a roll cage from Ruf, they should start planning the ways and means as early as possible.
However, the good news is that shipping cars across the pond on the RORO transporter is not expensive, and may pay off hugely in practical terms.
I believe that those considering doing something along these lines, need to talk to the Ruf people in the US and to the Ruf people here in Germany. It can get complicated, matters like VINs and engine numbers become very important.
I am happy to help serious players get orgsanised in this respect, if required.
