question for folks doing Euro Delivery (not the other ED)
Is there any kind of added delay from production if opting for European Delivery? And accounting for this can you actually plan the specific date you want to pick up the car?

Someone did a great write-up Erect ... um ... European Delivery for their 997 Turbo.
Bottom line: expect a lot of hassles but some great fun and memories.
There is a delay associated with lining up an ED window and you can narrow it down to the day in the final stages.
I'd do it if I could afford the time and dollars. Maybe for the 998 4.0 GT3 RS with PDK ... :"

There's other threads on the topic, I'm not sure why you didn't see this one in your searches. Keep in mind the search in these forum site applications is horribly primitive. You might have to search for "Euro Delivery" in this case. I just searched for "Euro."
Good luck with the order and the car. An ounce of planning is worth a ton of execution. : )

I signed up for Euro delivery for my May build GT3 and these are my first impressions:
- there is a pick-up window after production when you can pick-up the car. I am not sure what that window is, but it is certainly "a couple of weeks" after production. I plan to pick mine up sometime by the end of June.
- According to my dealer, deliveries are usually on time unless you go with paint to sample or "Porsche Exclusive Program" options - we'll see
- there is one person at PCNA that coordinates all these deliveries
- the hefty $4,000+ Euro delivery charge includes two weeks of insurance. I have yet to see Porsche insurance pricing for additional weeks. I am with USAA in the US and they will be able to provide me with a quote for the extended period.
- the shipping to the US East Coast (West Coast is longer) takes about 30 days after dropping it off for shippment to the US. This estimate might be somewhat optimistic
I have lived in Germany for 20 years so I know the drill about driving and summer traffic, etc.. My plan is to hit as many European tracks as possible to get to know the car.

I am with USAA as well and got the same quote, but PCNA is not geared up to handle a US company with European underwriting. You need to coordinate that fully with Gabriel up front. She said that she will try to work that out in the future.

Did the ED in '03.
For me it was seemless. Ordered the car in Feb and told them the day I wanted to pick it up in June and it was ready and as ordered.
It was the best vacation my wife and I have ever taken.
Highly reccomend talking with Porsche Travel as they were very helpful accomodating our modified trip.
Yes it is a little expensive considering Poesche saves big$ importing a "used" car but it was a great trip.
We will do it again someday.
