I also agonised over colour spec, eventually went with black but standard wheels which are being painted black next week.

Sadly the agony has continued since taking delivery last Wed. If I had chance to change colour now, still not sure.

Problem is there is no doubt the car would look best in orange or white. These colours would highlight the various dramatic vents/bulges etc that distinguish the RS.

Also the orange mirrors/spoiler sides on mine look a bit of a dogs dinner. The green/orange/white paintwork which allows these parts to be painted black more homogeneous.

But the orange is very bright, very in your face. Your knowledgeable friends (who appreciate your limited choice) will think fabulous but others will view you as a pretentious, narcissistic tosser. And that's just your other friends!

The rest will hate you and other road users (esp vans/lorries) will relish chance to carve you up (in this respect the ceramics a good option) and unless you have the skin of as rhino, you will soon need therapy. And the wife and kids will leave you.

So a dilemma!

The "Devil is in the Details" and that is what should count most.

Appearance wise the decals and rear wing will be the visual cue that this is a special car.

The white without decals to the general public will be a white Porsche of some sort. Those that know about Porsches will think it is a 997 GT3 and maybe they will notice the wing is different. Some may even think it is an RS clone?

I assume Porsche AG doesn't want to sell the 997 GT3 RS with white exterior and decals in order to differentiate it from the 996 GT3 RS model (only sold in white).

Am I the only person who will admit to having ordered the RS in silver? I love the car in orange and green, but can't imagine dealing with the kind of attention they'd draw. And, in addition to the price premium for those colors, I'd have to add the cost of the divorce that would result if I came home with the car in those colors.

Spark

But you will have orange wheels, most wives with half decent eyesight will consider this sufficient grounds for divorce.

I've got black with silver wheels and will have wheels painted black next week. Hopefully this will be the most 'tasteful' option. Will post photos next Thurs/Fri.
