The lock values for the 997 GT3, limitied slip differential, are 28% under traction and 40% under deceleration. Compare this to the 996 GT3 which was 40% traction, and 60% deceleration.

EDTC works with ABS to reduce effect of braking on wheel slip due to engine drag ( engine braking )
by increasing engine speed temporarily to cancel this out when it cause too much slip

From the 2007 GT3 Service Technik Introduction:

Another function within TC is Engine Drag Torque Control (EDTC) This is activated, for example, if lateral support could be lost at the rear axle after a downshift on a slipery surface due to rear wheels being locked by the engine drag torque. In such a situation, EDTC can quickly open the throtle by demanding more power from the engine management system, thereby restoring driving stability.

There you have it

MJones - thanks for the info. I won't get my Teknic book for a couple of days. I am also curious if my 996GT3 18 inch wheels will fit on the 997 GT3 RS, haven't found the offsets yet.

Thanks, Colm.
Have you found a track wheel for the GT3?
Can you even remember you have a GT3 now? You must be giddy with anticipation, mate. : )

Does this mean the system gooses the gas in throttle lift off oversteer?

911s typically exit the track backwards due to throttle lift rather than too much throttle as rear traction on the gas in these cars is awesome. But the description makes it sound like it only intervenes when the rear wheels lock or about to lock.
