Speccing an RS

Speccing an RS
As a new member its been interesting to see what others consider best colour spec.
I seem to be in minority of one re speccing standard silver wheels - is this a mistake?
I went for black car since green a no go, silver didn't seem to go with orange decals (but evidently this looks stunning in the metal) and orange o.t.t. for the school runs.
Thought silver wheels would:
a. Tone down boy racer look.
b. Highlight the ceramic brakes/calipers. IMO a stunning feature which are muted by the black wheels and obliterated by orange wheels.
c. Make the car look longer. The GT3 RS decal with colour coded wheels each end focus the eye on the middle of the car (the decals), making car look a bit chubby.
Does ANYONE agree!
Cheers

Silver/aluminum look wheels on black with the orange trim isn't going to go.
That IMO would look even worse.
I wouldn't mess with the factory colours. If you dont like them get a regular GT3 instead.
Once you start messing with the standard colours when it came to resell, the value of your "one-off" colour scheme car will be that much less than the others.
If you are going to keep the car, I guess you can do what you want, but silver wheels on a black car with orange trim all over the place will look like a complete home job.
I was thinking of going with silver/orange myself, but I think the wheels lose something in orange. I think Im taking green instead.

RR - agree not wise to mess with factory colours but how many of you would actually want orange wheels if a decent choice?
Hopefully won't look as bad as you think - I don't suppose any kind soul out there with the right kit could possibly paint GT3 wheels/ceramic brakes onto a black RS?

Silver is BY FAR the last color I'd choose for GT3 and even more so for GT3 RS.
Come on man, this is a car that comes with big wing, is a "race car" (it's not really a race car, far from it but you know what I mean) etc. and you don't want to "draw attention".
White, Guards Red, green or Orange are really the only "correct" colors for GT3 RS, maybe black with orange wheels but still, this is the car that needs those screaming colors.
Since you're going with black car, I wouldn't get silver wheels, black is ok but Orange will look better.
And BTW, just as a design principle, you definitely don't want the 911 to look longer, absolutely not.
911 is supposed to look short and small and this is where 997 (all models) designers were really succesful when compared to 996 models.
Even though 997 is little longer, all the other models than GT3 & GT3RS looks shorter which makes it look more "911" than 996 (looking long was the biggest screw up in 996's exterior design).
Look at the photos below, and the "shortness" of the cars, contrary to the other 997 models though, as good as the 997 GT3 looks (didn't find side photo of the GT3 RS), it looks slightly longer than 996 GT3 RS (which it is but as already said, other 997 models look shorter than 996 models) and you don't want that, you want 911 to look short.
(996 GT3 & GT3 RS were really a huge improvement also visually from other 996 models, pretty impressive what little differences in bumpers & wings do).

Nah, you may like your 911's short and fat but give me Keira Knightley anyday.
And re the orange wheels, my children would disown me, the wife would walk out and even worse my friends fall about laughing.
Anyway, I'm not yet convinced that a black GT3 RS with silver wheels won't look like a masterpiece of understatement.

Not my opinion really, a design principle/fact. You might disagree and I understand that. Keira is hot IMO though!
We don't want your wife to walk away (frineds you can just screw off, this is your car, not theirs) but think about black with black wheels, that would be better than black with silver.

^I don't think so but money talks and bull**** runs in marathons or something like that...White RS is still my preference but Orange, Black or Green will do...definitely not Silver.

Is there any further news/rumours on the possibilty of white being added to the colour choices for later production. Here in the frozen North the dealers are not even ready to start talking options or fill out order sheets. I'm told not until the Targa has been released.

Very many thanks - would it be possible to just change the wheels and leave the rest in orange.
I'm past the point of no return and my car prob built by now.
The white looks fab - wish this had been an option.
Thanks again
