Default Gt3 @ $106K vrs GT3RS @ $123.2K

The dealer said it's official...$123,200.00 for the RS.

He is willing to sell it at MSRP as I spec it for a $5K non refundable deposit.

Is there $17,200.00 worth of upgrades on the RS over the GT3?

Here are the known differences:

color and graphics
widebody +44mm over the GT3
yellow stripe on steering wheel
Carbon fiber hood
split wishbones for more adjustability
rear wing
no sun roof
ltw fly
front and rear PASM

What would you do at this point?
I have decided to hold off until the order specs for the US car are released.

At what point does the RS become worth the extra money?
When they add the GT seats?
How about the Club package?

Right now it sure seems like a lot of extra cash just to say "I own a GT3RS!"

Well worth the $$$ for the additonal hardware alone ... plus the exclusivity and future collectability. A no brainer IMHO.

The difference in mechanicals b/t the cars does not justify the price. For some, the rarity will justify the price, and come resale the gap may widen even more, further justifying the price.

Borrowing a bit from how Ferraris are valued, if you put low miles on the car, I'd lean toward the RS. Exclusivity + low miles should = big resale values.

If you are going to drive the **** out of it, get the regular one.

Should be interesting what people think.

Are you sure it's 123,200.20?
That would make it more expensive than the Turbo ($122,900.00).
In all European markets the RS is priced below the Turbo.

And who is telling you about the know differences? The dealer?

I have a hard time believing that the RS will be priced higher than the Turbo in NA.

• Leather interior package in Black
• Carbon interior package*
• Extended trim package in carbon*
• Rear centre console in carbon
• Outer door-sill guards in carbon with GT3* or GT3 RS** logo

The widebody alone is about $6K.
Carbon Fiber hood (from Porsche) probably $5K.
The rear wing probably $4K
Suspension bits minimum $4K

That's $19K right there ...

If you tried to duplicate the RS on a standard GT3 chassis it would set you back probably $30K.

But I agree with you Jeff that if you are going to beat the snot out of one get the standard GT3 ...

I decided that since i would be driving the car straight out of the low mileage range in a year or two and lowering the value, inherently to save that money would be a better play. i wouldn't mind a green or orange one though...

The RS in the U.S. has a prized option that no other 911's have.

It gots no stinking sunroof.

if you put 5k a year on it, get RS, if you put 20k on it a year get non RS.
the only thing i care for on RS is LWFW (which i am not sure we will get it in usa), the split control arms can be had aftermarekt (i am not sure the pick up pt is different, if it is, then perhaps it is worth the money).

we will not get roll bar, seats (which i dont like anyways, i need the seat like the one's in cup cars, with ears). the wide rear end i am indifferent about.

i do however love the fact it has no sunroof.

i dont know what i want. i would have gotten a 997gt3 non RS (if i can have it with no hole) and drive the **** out of it.

I seriously doubt if any of the electronic gizmos can be neutered without consequences. Hell, we still can't figure out how to kill the Drive Block crap on the 993's!

I've the rear split control arms on my 996. They're the same parts used at the front of the 996 GT3. When the rear camber is set with shims instead of using the eccentrics, the wheelbase is increased (that's the 5mm increase in wheelbase in the 997 GT3 RS). The same thing happens if you add shims to the front control arms, but caster is modified as a consequence.

The street two-piece RS control arms sell for about $1,000 a pair. The GT3 RSR ones (monoball bearing inner piece + solid bushing outer piece) sell for $3,000 a pair. My car has the Motorsport inner piece + the RS outer piece with solid bushings from ERP Racing, same solution as the GT3 RSR at a cheaper price. There are FabCar two pieces control arms available (used in ALMS) for $1000 each plus bushings and MotorSport inner bearings

If $123k is the base price for the US-RS, I think it is overpriced.

US GT3 RS: $123k (not that much chance to get it under sticker price)
PCCB: $9k
Orange Color: $3k
CF Seats: $7k
Plastic Rear Window: $1k
Rollbar: $2k
HID: $1k
===============
Total: $146k or (2) 2004 996 GT3

I wonder what will be the base price for the 997 GT2.

You're assuming they don't build to demand (and then some). PAG's m.o. is to maximize profits. I'm not aware of any Porsche model in the past few years that wasn't available to anyone that could write the check. I don't see how the RS will be any different.
