swap into a 360cs and never look back. All the pluses of a Ferrari with the tractability of a GT3/RS. Problem solved.

it reminds me of my S2000. Fun at 80%, but as you approach the limit, it's a handful. Words like 'snap spin', 'tail-happy', 'twitchy' come to mind.
_________
your s2000 must not have the correct bump steer kit.
i rode a stripped s2000, stock motor, jrz's and it's way faster than cayman or gt3. and it's as sharp as gt3 in handling but very very stable. i might get one.

I got my butt kicked at an MMP DE in September by a stripped S2000 with 400hp. Of course, I could make up some of the distance on the straights, but was lost over the 23 turns.... That S2000 is a very impressive car.

My $0.02.

Heading up past Waco to pick up a new Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy (daddy below). Would love to otherwise.

In understand exactly what you mean by coming back to Porsche. I did the FCar thing and liked it but I never really trusted the durability of the cars. While I liked the raciness of the 360 motor but I also got tired of reving the snot out of it all the time. I bought a Gallardo and while it's not a track car I've been crazy happy with it. Zero problems and the drivetrain is a nice mix of euro and muscle car. $950 for a 15K service. Just a really nice car to drive.

I've done my best to break my string of 911's.

Still, I find myself figuring out what the next P car is. What I really want is a Cayman on steroids but it's got to be factory and that doesn't exist at this point.

I'll get shelled for saying it but I think my favorite current Pcar is an "ordinary" 997 c2.

Good luck. Lot's of good choices.

Well, if you get the Ruf 3800 K - that IS factory, it is sure as hell on steroids.

C'mon over and I'll take you to see some.

Boulder GT3. Since you were comparing your Gallardo w/ GT3, how does your Z06 compare?

Thanks for the offer. To me, that's the fun balanced platform of the future.
I need to learn about the Ruf 3800 K. I think it's on the cover of Excellence this month.
As wound up as people got about the S/R in a street GT3 it seems like there would be a revolt among the faithful if P ever put big power in the Cayman.

I'm going to be stoned by the members of the forum for saying that I liked a Lambo, Cayman and Z06 in the same day.

GT3 think scalpel, Z06 think doing heart surgery with a meat cleaver. I’ve had the Z06 for a month and there are some things I really like about it. You can drive it with no more drama than a Cayman whereas the GT3 gets to be a PITA on the street. It feels huge at first but gets smaller and lighter the more you drive it. Never as nimble as a 911 but closer than I would have thought. I’ve had fantastic service. There was a fit on the center vent I didn’t like. I asked the dealer to take a look at it. Without me pushing them at all, they ordered a new dash, A pillar and vent assembly. I still don’t think P did the right thing around Gen I PCCB’s.

As far as street driving, the car is tight and has no rattles, squeaks, or shimmies. The Goodyear RF’s are the only choice on the stock rims and they are horrifying at the limit under power. No noise or warning, they just let go faster than you can imagine. The engine has gigantic power everywhere. Gear 1-3 it struggles for traction. Really bad idea to slam the throttle down in 2-3 in any kind of a turn. The car is very neutral and de-programming many years on the track with 911’s is kind of fun. I’ve been to 5 days of race schools in Z06’s. I’d still be faster around a track in the GT3 but I think the Z is (assuming brakes) a faster car.

The car has no where near the track development of a GT3. The brakes need to be tossed if you are doing anything serious, Different rim set up and tires need to be used for the track and the seats are floppy. There are some other minor things but to make it ready to be a hard HPDE runner it will cost about $8K. Spend the $8K and you still don’t have as developed a track car as the GT3 is stock. That said, it might be better to just buy a pure race car in the first place.

The further I go with cars I am more aware of compromise. The GT3 is great on the track but pretty iffy on the street. Blasphemy to say so on this forum, but I think Chevrolet did a pretty good job of getting a lot of performance into a package that is still pretty driveable.
