I'm surprised to hear that for two reasons:
1. They'll be leaving money on the table if that's true (not very Porsche-like)
2. Seems pretty early to know that info for sure (almost no cars delivered yet)

Why such a short run?????

Or, maybe it's because of Porsche's promise that all of their cars will employ PSM in the near future?

Porsche told all dealers this week that allocation for the RS will be based on 911 sales over the past 12 months (that is the only criterea). So large dealers will get 3 or 4 cars based on 250 cars and even more if they make more RS's. Some small dealers will get no cars.
So if you have a deposit with a large dealer and you are in the top 5 you have a shot. If your are in the top 3, you will likely get one. At a small dealer, who knows?

Reality has set in for me. Sam Stoltz at PCNA gave me the bad news. Put my deposit down in MAY and I'm not getting one. Somehow this just feels wrong. I hope you lucky few take the time to learn the history of this car and understand how very special it really is. Even if it's missing cool seats and a rollbar.

why all the angst? It may be a great car, but U.S. customers aren't getting the Euro version in any event. Alternatives:
-buy a cup car
-buy an older, even more limited edition 911 with more power and better handling
-take a 997 GT3, and modify to a GT3 RSR
-Gerry

The allocation program for the RS as well as other models is a mystery wigi board, based upon previous sales, dealership national ranking.
Some volume heavy hitters are
Carlsen, Rusnak/Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Porsche of North Scottsdale, Park Place, Champion.
I think that it is safe to say that if you do not have your name high up on a list with a deposit in place...you are SOL, even then you may be disapointed.
Think you've seen speculator action with the GT3.....
Just wait!!

MJ,
you seem to have a lof of inside info.
How many have you heard is Porsche making available for NA.
And will the RS only be a one year model?
Was the old RS in ROW a one year model too?
Thanks,
R

Just heard from my dealer -- PCNA has informed them of their 2007 RS allocations -- they will be getting 2 RS's for the first year. Production on #1 to start during the first part of the year -- Jan/Feb. He expects that I should be "specing" the car out some time in December.
