Default Sport Button Standard or do you need Nav/Sport Chrono?

I haven't posted in quite a while. The whole sunroof even being available on GT3 is nuts. Got me thinking - do you have to get Nav/Sport chrono to get sport button? The GT3 is supposed to be one big "sport" button, at least it used to be the last time I checked! I'm keeping my 996 GT3 anyway, last of the no sunroof, no traction control, no active suspension, no navigation, no hifi sound, no need for sport button 911!

No, you don't need to get NAV (neither SPORT CHRONO-"clock") to get "sport" button.
It's standard in GT3.

I am sorry to disagree. According to Porsche N.A. the sport button is only available as part of "sport chrono" option(s). This was in direct reply to a question through my dealer. I guess that make the "sport chrono" a performance option.

That is correct.

And a lot of people don't like the ugly Sport Chrono clock on the dash.

On euro-spec cars you get the 'sport' button as standard, whether or not you add chrono or chrono plus.

From on-track experience with my 997S, the clock on the dash does nothing. It is unreadable and you must rely upon the digital information under the speed readout in the tachometer and on the screen in the center console.

I believe the U.S. preliminary order guides have an error. You should not meed to order the chrono sport plus package (incl. PCM) to get the sport button. Sport button is standard.

Can someone verify this. I don't want to order chrono if I don't need it. Of course, the dealer says I have to order the chrono to get the sport button because they want the options

You don't need Chrono to get the Sports Button. It's standard.

I've just read through the new order guide. I think you have to have PCM to get the sport button.
Sport Chrono without the PCM does not mention the Sport button. SC with the PCM does.
Either an omission or $3,700 bill for the sport button!

You do not need PCM for the wart...

option 639 Sport Chrono Pkg W/Out PCM $690

option 640 Sport Chrono Package $690 (PCM req)

Everybody gets:
Sport button ,
Cruise Control
Sun Roof.
