I have been calling the dealer every three or four days to find out if they have the guide yet. I am a sick puppy though.

I think Germany may have closed down for the soccer.

The sooner they get knocked out the better. Then they can concentrate on building our cars

(Assuming of course it's Germans labour).

I'm hearing mixed messages on sunroof delete (colour me out of the game if it comes with a sunroof ...)

I posted the prelim order guide on the "old" GT3 forum somewhere hereabouts.

I received my copy today via email and my first thoughts were "Sunroof and Cruise Control" for a track car - just great... So we're paying a few thousand retail for these items and are going to delete them if possible so Porsche makes out like bandits.

Why, oh why, can't these be OPTIONS? Who is making these crazy decisions for the US market?

it is due to all the people that returned their 996 GT3s after a few months. Like it or not the fact is there are many more buyers for a car with all the gadgets and will never track the car then there are track rats.

Guys, PAG said all 997's in North America would have sun roofs because they would be required by (stupid) DOT rules to crash test cars without a sun roof. Cruise control isn't needed but adds only about 2 lbs to the car. Hardly worth getting excited about. How many of us don't need to lose 2 pounds or perhaps more?

I think we will track the cars and suffer with the sunroof. People who don't trailer their cars to track events will suffer less. While I would rather not have the hole, it doesn't seem like a really big deal.

I have the same questions about the mandatory PCM in the 997!

I suspect we have fellow Porsche owners in focus groups to thank for these sporty features...

I am clearly this buyer as described above. I like the looks of the GT3 better than the Turbo. The fact that I can obtain all of the options similar to the Turbo is a plus for me, i.e. PCM, Sport Chrono, Phone Module, etc. I will never track the GT3. This is what is making the decision between buying the Turbo or the GT3 so difficult. If it didn't have all the goodies available, I'd probably buy the Turbo.

What a wonderful decision to have to make!

That's a very pragmatic view, and I agree. I would prefer no sunroof in MY car, but it is not so important as to be a deal breaker.

As for cruise control - when you live in the track-barren pac northwest, you have to drive several hours to other tracks, and cruise is not bad to have. It costs like 5 ounces.

Finally, for some people the GT3 will be a "track car", but for others who can't afford TWO porsches, it is going to be their road & track car. So let's not forget that everybody has different needs and wants. I salute a person that goes for the GT3 as their only p-car! Good choice!
