So it seems. But 1. where do the "mainstream" look when they are driving? 2. People are pretty much accepting that DOT won't allow a proper RS into the country (whatever a proper RS is)

Wellthe word from Reeves in Tampa is that the GT3 RS will be a "proper" GT3. plexi and CF to reducde weight, CGT-like seats available in or around March 07 as a MY08.
Modern Porsches (997's ) are getting sold more with tipronic than ever before. Even in europe, tips are outselling the 6-speeds.

the wing looks similar looking to the 997 gt3 stock - is it bigger? are those ram air intake scoops bigger? looks also like another confirm that the RS has the 15" ceramics in the front (like the turbo), but not the offset wheel carrier to lower center of gravity like the 996RS or 997 Gt3...

I saw that too. Wonder why it is different then the 997 GT3? I under stood the difference between the 996 GT3 and the 996 GT3 RS, but now I am confused on the 997 GT3 coming with what appears to be the carriers and the 997 GT3 RS not having the carriers.
Could it be a regulation change in the series that Porsche plans on running the cars in, and the RS will not have the carriers?
Is that the same black 997 as the car labeled as the 997 GT3 RS?
That is the oddest site. Manufacture spy pics!?!?

The GT3 gets "softer" in each iteration (eg. PASM.) And that's a conventional model approach -- take a successful model in a direction closer to the core customer profile and test price elasticity, thereby creating a gap in the model line-up, then introduce a "new" model to fill the gap and appeal to a targeted customer at a premium price and increase average sales margin.
Perhaps buyers need to vote with our deposits on for the, as yet imaginery, RS and see if PCNA can count. PCNA needs to figure out how to sell cars and seeing 100+ orders for a $110K plus car is going to show as a big blip even on their miopic radar. The trick is convincing them that these orders are additional sales, not taking away existing sales.
Of course, the RS will never arrive here with non-DOT parts (thin glass, roll-bar) and I don't expect Porsche to sell off-road/track cars through their dealers, but it would be very appealing to see a low-volume factory car appealing to that segment of GT3 buyers. I think Porsche has proven they can't convince the market to treat them seriously with a car at $400K, so I think they need to reconsider how they're selling enthusiast cars at $100K.

carrera GT: I think you are spot on. Porsche will introduce the 97GT3 with all this other **** and they will sell more cars fasrter then the 996 GT3. The reason is that no matter how much we complain there are more people will to buy the soft version of the GT3. They will then get people that want a 997 version of the 996 GT3 to pay more for the "RS" version which will make them feel good because it say RS but it will be nothing special. Compared to the ROW it will be a poser US version.

Geez, some of you seem to seek out anything to whine about on the newest model. No matter how much the breed is improved in terms of speed and driving dynamics, someone has to jump in, point the finger, and yell "Porsche has gone soft!" Some of you have no right to complain about the 993 owners.
