Comparison: 991.2 GT3 vs Deman 4.5 GT4 vs 997.2 GT3
A group of friends and I shipped our cars out to California for the Air | Water show and then a road trip up the coast ending in Napa. During one of our last days we met up with YouTuber Zygrene and let him review our 3 cars.
I also got to drive each car. I’ll give a quick summary of each.
991.2 GT3 - A technical marvel. The car is helping you access its performance. From the light controls and auto rev match, it makes it very easy to go very fast on a canyon road. The engine really doesn’t come alive until after 5k rpm. It is explosive when it does. Overall I was most disappointed in this car. I didn’t enjoy it trying to help me drive it.
Deman 4.5 GT4 - This car is a scalpel. Tons more confidence inspiring front end coming out of the GT3 cars. The torque is immense and the short gearing really wakes the car up and makes it very enjoyable on a tight canyon road. The power demands more of your attention to drive than a regular GT4. Knowing you can spin the rear tires up with a stab of the throttle. Enjoys really enjoyable on a tight canyon road.
997.2 GT3 - My car, and I came away still happy with my choice. It demands to be driven at any speed. It requires effort to extract its performance, creating a memorable experience. I can see myself doing a short diff ratio, hoping to capture some of the GT4 shorter gearing feel.

Interesting video. I have 2 out of the 3 cars (kind of anyway, my 991.2 GT3 is a touring and my 997.2 GT3 is an RS) and I have a hard time picking a favorite. The 997 is more playful (lots of accessible oversteer), everything is higher effort (shifter, clutch, steering, etc...) and very engaging but the 991 has a wild motor and is just so competent - but mostly it's just easier to drive around for daily tasks/commuting, etc... I use my cars for day to day activities and none of them are weekend only, sunny day garage queens but the 991 is just easier to use. Really love both and glad to be able to have them.
Edit: forgot to mention I never use sport mode in my cars so I don’t ever use the auto blip. I turned it on a couple times just to see and it drove me crazy because I’m in the habit of manually blipping my downshifts and with the computer and me blipping, I ended up overshooting the correct rpm and it just annoyed me.

I don’t know that the sport button does anything other than auto blip. Suspension, traction/stability are separate buttons and the throttle response doesn’t seem different to me. That said, I have literally turned on sport mode maybe twice for less than a total of 5 miles in about 12,000 miles of driving my 991.

Thanks for sharing the car for the video.
7.2 is really from an entirely different era. Porsche engineers didn’t sit there doing nothing while coming up with 981/991 cars. Firmer brakes etc. and a whole host of other things.
I have both the 981 GT4 and the 7.2 GT3 (new to me, and I have lots to learn from the RR layout). The 7.2 GT3 demands more focus and tickles me more; the drive in 7.2 GT3 is more emotional, while the GT4 is more precise. They both feel Porsche with a different touch to it.
in isolation. All those 3 cars in the video are all great cars (and probably some of the most fun road/street cars available).
