Opinion Sought
Hi All - opinions sought. The current Porschefolio consists of 3 997's - C4S, turbo (tip), and GT3, as well as a 993 (tip). All in great condition. I'm considering dropping all but one car as my retirement date approaches - and the question is which one to hang onto? The car will need to do DD / road trip work (up to 500miles/week) as well as cater for possible future infirmity as the intention is to hang onto it until the reaper comes to visit. Cross posting on other forums as well. Thanks in advance!

Is 4 wheel drive useful in your climate? GT3 may not be ideal in winter in some areas?
Will this be your only car? 20k+ miles a year!? Great stuff!! Glad to hear you are driving them as intended but the maintenance might become a bit of a burden with that many miles every year on an aging car. I would drive your favourite one for as long as you can, keep it well maintained and if reliability becomes an issue, trade it in for a newer C4S/Turbo down the line

id probably sell them all and get a 997.2 turbo with PDK or even a newer 991.2 GT3 with a PDK. Manual is nice but having the option to let it do its thing is nice if you're using the thing to drive around and sit in traffic. I also don't think id want to be 85 years old and dealing with the GT3 clutch.

100% this - Sell all three and buy something NEW. I'd bet you would still have money leftover to put back into your retirement funds. Don't get me wrong, I don't see how I would ever part with my GT3, but it's not something I see aligning well with the future plans. All this assumes no nostalgia, special bonds or collector OCD to the current 911s in your driveway.

Thats a depreciating asset compared to what he has now. I would keep the GT3 and drive the hell out of it. Easy to maintain compared to newer cars and you will keep driving it for free since they will keep going up in value. IMO, newer cars don’t feel the same.

Most cars are depreciating assets and if I could only have one car, it would be the same car Andreas Preuninger would have. The Cayenne Turbo GT. That's not a bad thread topic. If you could only have one car in your stable to drive for everything, what would it be?

Turbo tip for sure. I've had all the cars you list but a turbo tip will make 500 miles a week seem pleasurable. Plenty of power that you don't get tired of. I put 48000 miles on my manual 997 Turbo Cab. in 3 years. I too was retiring and decided to sell the turbo and buy a 997 4S cab tip. Big mistake. The 4S lasted 4 months then it was back to a turbo. Picture of the 4S below.

Such a great question. For me, RS6 would be high on the list as would E63 or Panamera Sport Turismo if I needed a sedan. Cayenne Turbo GT, Macan GTS, Cayenne GTS also would be high on the list if needing an SUV. If not needing four doors, I'd highly consider a 991 Turbo S. I'm not a speed guy, so the Turbo S would be not necessary in my case, a C4S would do, but I think the Turbo S just looks amazing in the snow.
