In a search to transform my 7.2RS into my perfect weekend car, I would like now to tacle the intake noise.
I have a NSX-R in my garage next to the GT3 and can't fail to notice that the intake noise is a bit lacking in comparaison to my NSX, which to be fair is logical because your hear is right next to the intake on the NSX while on the GT3 it isn't.
I drove a 964cup once and a 993 RS Clubsport and the intake noise was intoxicating ( from memory the airbox intake is on the firewall side while on the 997 is on the outside side... ) but really want to replicate this or come closer to this.
Has anyone tried a different airbox ( from my knowledge the .2 3.8RS has a special one ) ? removed sound deadening ? I have a JCR bypass that has increased noise on the outside but didn't brought a lot of exhaust noise inside hence my willingness to try and improve the intake now ( before i get a full straight pipe system and declare war to my neighbours. )
The Dundon CF airbox will fulfill your intake noise requirement. Other benefits are, light weight, great eye candy and depending on what else you do, can possibly add some HP/TQ.
I'll echo others on the Dundon airbox. I wouldn't expect a night and day difference but it certainly provides a noticeable bump in the cabin intake noise over the stock box.
Thanks all ! I hesitated also for the Dundon airbox but though it was the same my 7.2RS box except in carbon and would not make a difference but apparently it is different. Mine has 2 openings and thought it was dual cone but it is a plan large filter indeed.
I wanted to get a D4 package since a long time but was blocked by the price, will maybe start with the carbon airbox then at least !

Yup, very different size and shape. It's a fair bit larger than the stock airbox.
