Default Water Pump Replacement

my 2010 GT3 as 42k on the clock and I should probably do this. No issues thus far and no weeping.
on my c2s the dealer said to just let it go until it starts showing signs but probably best to just check it off the list huh?

Do you want to find out on a track day?

I did mine preventatively around 24k when motor was out for coolant lines. Will probably do it every eight or ten years.

My 08c2s pump when out at 40,000 miles and I was told it was a maintenance item that I should have already replaced. When I bought my 997.1 GT3 with 35,000 miles records showed the pump had not been changed. I was told it was "less" of a wear item on the Metzger engine, whatever that means. Last winter at 44,000 I change it along with the expansion tank (and a lot of other "while you are in there" items). The noise the failing pump made on my c2s scared the crap out of me (I thought it was the IMS).

Thanks,
Dave

Yeah, I was told it was a regular thing on the C2S as well and did it at 50k. But I haven't heard much discussion or been advised to do so on the GT3.
I was thinking it was something I should do and that has been confirmed. Track season is coming up and I'll put it on the list of things I need done before
the season starts.

I heard that on the GT3 the water pump is very robust and don’t need changing as often as the regular 997s.

Yeah, I'm sure it is more robust. But I've already replaced a bunch of hoses and the fact is that the car is 14 years old and sees track days about 5 days a year. I'd hate for it to let go on track or a result of a track day. I've got some bits and bobs to sort for this year's season. I called the shop today and they're putting together an estimate and time slot.

the standard things like , gear oil, motor oil and brake fluid.
also going to have all the center lock hubs and locks checked out.

Yes that's all been done. I wouldn't have gotten on track with out that step. I made sure to buy a car that had that already done.

Good. I wouldn't sweat it then assuming the shop that did the work also replaced all the rubber and other cooling system wear items at the time.

If you want to have some fun, do the CL's yourself. Just find a nice plank of wood, and smack it down hard. It will separate the ring, then you can take it apart. Very easy to do.

I've taken them apart and cleaned them many times. I have one that the spring lock doesn't like to pop out and it often needs to be retorqued. I think I used too much grease.

I kept pictures from a case where the CL/hub was damaged:
