Im not tracking this car but I can't have that happen to me anywhere so for those reasons, it's two new tires.

I'm ultra conservative when it comes to tires. In my humble opinion tires are the wrong place to save money, and they are relatively cheap compared to the headache they can cause.

Didn't know this, but makes me feel better about my obsessiveness to replace and not patch tires, even though I only drive on the street and I doubt anything would ever happen.

And its not such a waste, because the other "good" tire can be kept as a spare for a few years.

Bumping my thread as my new tires arrived at Tire Rack Distribution Center and I stopped by there this afternoon to grab them but they were almost 2 years old so I passed and they are now trying to see if they can get me some fresh rubber.

Good catch on the age. Fresh (age) is important to me because I tend to age out tires vs wear them out, even at 2k miles/yr.

Damn Joe, I was going to order those TPM sensors but since the tires were not happening, I paused. Just now I got a call from my other tire guy at America's Tire stating he has a set of N0's from 2023 in his hands. He made a few calls and got them this am! That being said, I just pushed my Huf order through on a Priority mail shipment. Hopefully I can get this early next week. No cruise this weekend. Upside is that I got black stems.

How old were your existing tires?

my 07 has good PS4's, 4-5 years old, but tire sensors are bad.
Gonna order based on the Huf link, but not sure I wanna use 4-5 yo tires to remove and remount....

Thoughts?

N0 or "N Zero" is manufacturer specific for Porsche. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires are manufacturer specific or the standard BSW (black sidewall). Normally I wouldn't care if they were N0Spec, but in this case, N0 tires have no rim protection bead, which gives them that great fat, non stretched look.

Tire installers can install TPMS without full removing the tire from the wheel. It won't save you any cash so I'd wait till I needed new tires.

How long till you wear through your current set of tires?

If it was me, I'd likely grab new tires at the same time as the sensors. If you were going to need to replace tires at the end of this season, maybe get them now. Porsche recommends replacing tires after six years of age. Or, if you're ok with the light on the dash, then just leave them for this season. Another option is to code out your sensors with Durametric/PIWIS (Porsche tool), but I actually like having the tire pressures up when driving.

Good news is if you just did sensors, they won't need to rebalance the tires. A friend of mine just did this. They'll mark the tire at a certain spot and then remove the old sensor and put the new one in.

Her's the issue with no sensors. You get a flat, you won't know until you feel the car pitch sideways (rear tire) when you stab the gas, or pull to a side with a front tire. The tires are so low prifuile that you'll drive that sidewall and possibly ruin the tire. TPMS can keep you from pulling out of the garage with a flat.

Also, get that deal Bxster posted, I searched and that's an amazing deal. I would order them now.

Ya, thats a good point on ordering the TPMS now. They can sit and wait for the new shoes.

I did know the look of the "stretched bead" vs the convex bead. Didn't know about the N0 designation however....learn something new everyday....

PS2's are all "N0" though, right? and PS4's have the lip.....And they really are "way" different tires. I've never had a PS4 issue in the rain....

PS4S don’t have an N Spec tire in our size.
PS2’s do as well as Cup 2’s.
PS2’s are N2. Cup 2’s are N0.

N spec is the Porsche designated tire. Then the number after it is the version.
Mercedes has M spec. Audi has A spec.
