Default 997 Gt2 bumpers on 997.1 3RS , possible ?

As per title..

Interested to understand/confirm that this can be done

I get that with enough time/money anything is possible

question is more related to “how much hassle” it is. “Plug and play” or is it more than that

Assuming the front is easy, take front off, put new front on

Rear - hoping/assuming it’s the same (apart from the exhaust needing to go from centre exit to twins)

also whether to go OEM or frp aftermarket

any info appreciated. TIA

Anything is possible with money regarding bumper fitment.

May need custom exhaust work from the headers back, but I imagine it’s doable at a competent exhaust shop.

Just curious, any particular reason? Looks?

yep entirely aesthetics. I’m going to dewing too. Take the touring concept back to the best generation.

… a turbo’d duel exhaust on a wide body, to a center exhaust

I think the gentleman wants to install a GT2 bumper on a 997.1RS. The most beautiful bumper ever made and he wants to remove it.

OP, there appears to be a OEM 997 GT2 rear bumper for sale in the members classifieds section. Unless you’ve seen it already.

De-wing/remove wing?

I concur.

I'm totally off tilt today.

If I was the OP and wanted to change my RS, I ....., I wouldn't do it. Sorry, it's too perfect on design.

While we're filling this thread with unhelpful replies - I'll add mine. Variety is the spice of life Good luck, OP.

IMHO the 997.1 GT2 rear bumper is the best factory design of them all. So, a small vote of confidence for the OP at least!

for some reason I was thinking he was doing a gt3 narrow body bumper conversion from a wide body, which imo is an impossible feat

However if he did a side muffler delete it would make room for custom exhaust. The issue I would have with a custom exhaust would be getting the correct pressure etc… would need a custom tune.

My guess is the actual bumper itself mounts up at the same spots but maybe not the heat shields?I can’t tell

Both 996 and 997 GT2 the best looking versions of these two models. Love both of them.

Thanks for the replies - both fore and against what I’m looking to do.

i don’t think the 7.1 3RS rear bumper is terrible, it’s fine. I like the gt2 item better, but not so much so I would change for change sake.

The 3rs bumper works well with the large rear wing. When you take the wing off (which is the primary change I want to make) the 3rs rear bumper doesn’t look right.

There are many examples of this combination. Whether that be the 997 CSR with a ducktail and a 3rs style bumper, or Carrera owners putting the 3RS bumper on and retaining the Carrera lid.

I’m undecided whether to go with the sports classic duck tail, the Carrera lid, or something in between. But (IMO) all these options will look much better with the gt2 rear bumper.
