Another nagging issue I'm having is related to the ABS. I removed the motorsports ABS to go back to factory. I bought and installed a used GT3 ABS pump from eBay. I programmed the used pump to the car's VIN with PIWIS, but I still have an error on the front right wheel speed sensor. I just replaced the wiring harness for that corner and it didn't solve the issue. Next step is to test the wires from the sensor (already replaced and ruled it out) back to the pump to see if there is an issue elsewhere in the harness. I'm open to any suggestions of what else to look at though!

Cool car! It's interesting to see someone take a car back towards street use. Most times people are chopping them to bits for track use!

If you need to refresh your brakes, please keep us in mind. We are longtime forum sponsors and have 2-piece front and rear AP Racing J Hook Brake Discs, Ferodo Racing pads, high quality AP Racing brake fluid, and Spiegler SS brake lines available for your car...everything you need to get your brakes prepped and ready for action:

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you need assistance.

Thanks @JRitt@essex ! I'll keep you guys in mind for a brake refresh.

Back to the ABS issue I was having. It was indeed wiring related for that front right wheel sensor. I was able to find the issue and fix it last night and the code is gone . Thanks to great support from @rnlst_log ! PIWIS 3 is amazing. I could see the errors, test the sensors individually, and even trace the wiring through interactive wiring diagrams.

why did you remove the motorsport abs sensor? or was it because you were having abs issues?

The Bosch M5 motorsports ABS was working fine, but it's just overkill for my application. It was a stand alone unit, so it created a bunch of warning lights on the dash with the factory one not present. The ABS issue started when I reverted back to a used factory GT3 ABS pump. Besides programming it to the car, I needed to chase a wiring problem which is now resolved.

Nice car.

I see that had a ACI banner on it before.

I'm curious if you know where that car started its life- I serviced a K class 07 GT3 that was gutted etc like yours back in 17-18'

There were some features that would identify the car I worked on well.

This car, however, looks like it might be one that Autometrics built and serviced as the quality looks a good bit better from the photos.

I have a stack of receipts from some great shops. It looks like the car was built and cage installed at Pat Williams in 2015 and raced in K-class for a couple years. The engine was rebuilt by Autometrics in 2018, and the car sold (retired to DE duty). Then it was maintained at ACI in Georgia for the previous owner until I bought it late last year and shipped it to TX..

If Autometrics built the engine you’ve got a good one!

The issue may be caused by having wrong type of front sensors. There are two types of sensors; Early and Late. One is a Hall Effect sensor, the other is an Inductive sensor. The 997.1 GT3 oddly came factory equipped with Early front sensors while having Late rear sensors. The factory ABS unit is config for the factory equipped sensors, which for this particular year/model car is Early front and Late rear. I don't believe an aftermarket motorsport ABS unit can be config for different types of sensors per axle within the same car. It is possible that when the motorsport ABS was installed they realize this, and resulted to either modifying the front uprights to accept Late sensors or replaced the front uprights entirely with a different version that accepts Late sensors. For example, 997.2 GT3 front uprights are designed for Late sensors. Below are images of the two types of sensors. Early has 90-degree angle head, whereas Late has straight head. Both have the same connector for the harness. Its worth a look at the sensors. Good luck.

Thanks Tom. Really good info here! I did replace the sensors when I swapped back to the stock ABS unit. My car still has the early sensors up front as you show. The issue turned out to be a open circuit in the wiring that I was able to track down and resolve. All the ABS faults and warning lights are gone now.
