The link to my batt/ignition switch issue-many people had genuine ignition switch malfunctions in various Porsche models including Cayennes etc. My ignition switch did not need to be replaced:

I'm here!

So I contacted my local indie Porsche expert and decided to take the car in. It's due for a service anyway. Only issue is that's he's so backlogged and it'll be June 28th before he gets me in. So the car is on the top of the rack and I'm enjoying some alternate toys.

Thanks everyone for the input. You put my mind at ease regarding the probably severity. If anyone's interested I'll post back with what he finds.
