i have the pcm in my 997.2 and this works great for wireless bluetooth. it bridges into the aux port in the center console and is powered by the usb port in there too. this + rennline phone mount and i'm good to go. no need to mess around with carplay upgrades or a pccm upgrade.

If there is a usb port in the rear you could run one of the CarPlay boxes that converts wired CarPlay into wireless. We have one in the Golf R and it works great. It’s about the size of a cassette tape and doesn’t have to be visible or accessible.

Has anyone heard anything new on when Porsche Classic plans to release the PCCM for the 997.2? I wonder what is taking them so long, they have had one for the 997.1 for the past year.

Most likely they'll wait until the 997.2 has reached "Classic" status, which seems to be 20 years after the initial release.

With any luck they'll refresh it again and the carplay will at least be wireless (one can hope)

How do you come to this conclusion? I think Porsche considers its cars a classic once it's been out of production for 10 years.

Does the rear port work for CarPlay or only data files for music?

On the PCCM, out of the box no but you can swap the CarPlay USB port from front to back with a cable someone on the 997 subforum was selling. Front will still work for charging after the swap.

"When does a car go from simply being “used” to becoming a fully fledged classic? According to Porsche, right around the 20-year mark."

That's Hagerty's hearsay.

According to Porsche it's: The year 2023 will be a big one for 997 owners around the world, as it becomes an official Porsche classic.

In the meantime I bought a gang of CDs for the first time in probably 20 years at the local record exchange. Something way more tangible about them than just using the aux cord. Catch me cruising around with my Phil Collin’s and Daft Punk CD’s at full blast locally on days ending in Y 😂

That's pretty vague as well. Obviously 997.1 has entered the classic program, but that doesn't mean the 997.2 has.

Personally, I really don't think we'll see 997.2 pccm+ for a few years.
