GT3RS - Full Clubsport Build

Gorgeous car, or should I say cars. Love the build. Still love the 997's. The list of upgrades are incredible. How does she feel on track vs your 18 GT3?
Side note, not too many I've seen with a Nismo 370z and Porsches. That's a surprise considering the Porsche track beasts you have. Probably the slowest car you have unless its modded...

Only thing I don't like about it is the OE ABS programming sucks, I mean really sucks. That's what holds back this car. Most serious guys swap to BMW MK60.....but not worth it as it's not like it's my main track car. I take it to the track occasionally for member days at my local track, and street it.
My young nephews love it, lol.
Just picked up an E30 M3 this past weekend, so it now gets the title of "slowest car in the stable"....lol.

OK, learned a few things today. First and most importantly, the Dundon/Hytorc tool, while totally awesome, does not work on 18" BBS centerlock wheels. The leverage arm is too long (designed only for 19-20" wheels). I removed the delrin sheath, to be able to fit it inside the spoke which is fine (wrap something soft around the metal), but still no dice. I reached out to Dundon, they said they are working on it, but this is a pretty big problem. They just need to shorten the lever arm by about 1-1.5" and it will work for literally every conceivable CL wheel. This is important to fix. Needless to say, I left my manual torque wrench at home, so didn't get to scrub in the new wheel/tire combo today.
Second, the BBS E07 in gold is F-ing amazing on this car, however, we still lack a correct rear tire size in 18". We need a 325/35-18 Nitto NT01. The 305/35-19 while great, looks a little puny and a bit stretched on a 12" wheel for the RS. The 325/35-18 will be slightly taller (more meaty) and wider, both of which will ensure better handling and proper fitment and rake. Back in the day a bunch of us flooded the Nitto website tire size request for the 305-/35-18, and Nitto listened and responded quickly, which is why we have that size still to this day. But now we should do it for the 325/35-18 so the 997.1 RS and 997.2 RS owners can have a proper rear 18" tire size as well. I still love NT01's, just a great, long-lasting, consistent track tire that has good grip and can be playful when you want to.
I urge you RS guys to go here and request the NT01 in 325/35-18. Click on the link, then choose "Tire Size Request" from the drop down menu under Reason for Contacting:

Looks incredible. Bummer about the Hytorq and NT01 size on the RS. The 305 is perfect on the non RS, but agree it doesn’t quite fill out the RS rear. And yeah, 07 is THE wheel for our cars.

Thanks. All you 305 guys need to help us out and still request the size, it's just a request volume thing with Nitto that gets it moving forward. Unlike the huge tire companies, they actually listen to their customers.

My day was ultimately cut short when my primary oxygen sensor literally shot out of the OE header. As in, pulled the threaded insert in the header with it. My guys can only guess it was over-torqued at some point in previous ownership, and finally let go. It's previously been living the life of luxury in garages for many years, so some proper use will find the weak links! LOL. Easy fix, be back on track soon.

Wow i love those E07s. I ran a 335/30/18 r888r (garbage tire) on my BBS Cup wheels and still felt it was too short and looked silly. I'd love a set of 18s for the track but have yet to find the right tire size.
I have seen Hytorc guns used without the reaction arm, have you tried it? Mine also came with a much smaller and full metal arm in addition to the Delrin one. I will snap a pic of it tomorrow. I've never used it and would be happy to send it over if you can use it.
P.S. what are you doing for track insurance, if anything?

I only run it on private club days at a local track that I'm a member of, so I typically self insure, since there's typically only a few other cars on track at a time. It's a super safe track with tons of run-off so even if something failed or I full send it off, you can't hit anything. I don't plan on taking it to weekend long lapping events while corvettes are always blowing up and oil down a track, or crap-boxes that dump fluid constantly, lol. It's just to enjoy the car as it was meant to be in a much more controlled track environment. My GT4 is the "track car" I use for big weekend DE events etc. etc.
The notion that this car is "too valuable" to track is just plain silly to me. It might be more valuable in terms relative to it's previous cost, but how is that any different than all the new 992 GT3RS's hitting the track. Those cars are all 250-300K+. Nobody saying "these are too valuable to track". They guys who got into these at 120-150K are afraid to track becuase it might "lower" or potentially cause a loss of "value" since they feel they have $100K+ in equity in the car. The guys who pay 200K for them that say they are too valuable to track are just collectors or casual car enthusiasts. Then there are the weirdos like me who want to enjoy the car as intended, with calculated risk, while I'm still on this giant spinning rock.
I'm building this into a EVO3/Group A/DTM tribute type race car for the street too. Nobody tracks these anymore for the same reason. Silly. I'll be taking mine to the track in the same fashion as the RS to enjoy it as originally intended. I'm very fortunate to have the time and ability to enjoy them, so I don't take that for granted.

Oh i still actively track mine as well but recently saw a 997.2 suffer from an engine fire while at the track so it had me considering some form of insurance. I also only take this car to private/exclusive track days as I have other dedicated cars that can get thrashed at the given weekend warrior events.

Apologies if you covered this somewhere already, I tried to skim but couldn't find it. Any reason why you didn't just go full Supersprint? Versus OEM headers into the side deletes + their muffler?
#57
I have the long tube catless headers and stock rear section, and love it.
#58
Side note, I'd be curious to hear from both of you how drone is driving around town. Both with factory headers + SS muffler, and SS longtubes + factory muffler.
#59
Zero drone with stock rear muffler. I came from more or less straight pipes, so the switch was dramatic for me. Had gotten to a point where I couldn’t / wouldn’t drive around town. I still don’t much just because it’s not really enjoyable, but now very tolerable from a sound perspective.

I stuck with OE headers simply because I didn't want to spend the extra cash on the whole Supersprint setup. I had always planned on using the stock headers until the cats begin to fail, and will replace them then.
Zero drone with Supersprint rear muffler and stock cats. I don't want my car to be unbearable when driving around, so even when I do replace the headers, I'll go with something that bolts on with 200 cell sport cats or something along those lines.
The sound is fantastic.
