If you're going to install yourself and need any tips, chime in. Also if you're removing door panels and need tips, chime in and I can help you skip that learning curve and possibly a few broken plugs or worse, those slots they go into. I have some good pics that go a long way in getting those pesky plugs to release.

Same - what's funny is that I remember in May of 2009 when I ordered my .2 GT3 I thought: why on earth add Navi/bluetooth/XM to a GT3, sounds too heavy. Instead, I went with the CDR30 and sprung for the additional $150 "iPhone interface" which turned out to be an AUX port under the armrest. Whomp Whomp!

Ha, I too run an audio to lightning cable in my Cayenne and apple 30 pin to lightning in my RS4 and its' good enough to not upgrade to CarPlay, which is a system that I can take or leave. All I need is my choice of music pumping through those speakers.

Hacked my way through the install on my 2008 Carrera. Just happy to have CarPlay working so I can play tunes and use Waze. Will need to get back in there to get am/fm radio reception worked out. Trying to figure how it's supposed to fire on/off. It has turned on just unlocking the door and getting in. Other time I had to turn it on. I always have to manually turn it off. Need to get this figured out before I end up with a dead battery.

Apparently doesn't require you to tap power into the fuse box, and it's less than half the price I paid for the JoyAuto. Might try to sell the JoyAuto unit I have (still sealed in shipping box, never opened) and get this kit. Strange thing was that kit includes a mic; trying to check with supplier if it can reuse the factory mic; but maybe it needs a separate one. I guess the factory mic would be used with the PCM phone function; might be better to have the call integrated with the Apple CarPlay; will have to do some more research.

FYI this guy stole your picture and is trying to sell on Facebook via the "Porsche 991 Enthusiasts" group...
His FB profile is...

(remove the [brackets] above)
I reported him to the admins of the group last week after he tried doing this with a different product but he's still at it. I reported him again, hopefully will gain traction to ban him this time.

My car came with an Alpine unit in it. I am looking to add a back up camera. I started a new thread but wanted to see if that is an option on the unit in this thread? looking for some guidance in installing the camera.

@RAudi Driver Has anyone installed this unit with the Sirius XM unit? I just purchased and am waiting for the Sirius receiver to get shipped. Just curious as to where people mounted the XM antenna. If anyone has had theirs installed by a dealer, where did they mount it?
