Default 992 GT3 / GT4RS Underbody Aero...

When I first looked under a 992 GT3 I spotted these and being the engineer type it's not left the brain... Has anyone had a go at fitting these on the 997

Detailed thread from 991 forum with part numbers below, GT4RS ones aren't too badly priced so I'm tempted... Just wondering if anyone else has tried and can comment before I do.

I think it's worth a shot at seeing if they work on a 997. Someone Guinea up!

My 997 is under the knife at the moment. I may test fit the pieces on my 987 Spyder since the front end is identical. Will keep you guys posted...

I have all my aero removed at the moment so I asked earlier today about them, unlike the GT4RS and 991 we don’t have holes that line up. I get that it only deflects to increase the air speed under the car… but I always question doing these things. Like dive planes without the wing extension and visa versa creating an unbalance.

Still cool looking but a lot of guys are saying they are tearing them off or scraping them, they take like 1 1/2 inches off the ride height?

That's the point, impossible to crash once fitted, basically ground effect levels of downforce

I'm am interested in the aero advantage though, it's always nice to fit oem parts that have been wind tunnel tested etc. Maybe they won't add more than 50kg at vmax but it's still better than not adding 50kg etc

I've got a 991 touring diffuser to ponder at some point, this just seemed a simple mod to do once my sills have been repainted

One of my favorite things about GT cars is the fact the full race CUP car parts are interchangeable/direct bolt on. And that many parts from older and newer models are interchangeable (964,996,991)

I got them. No easy way to mount them and they don't sit anywhere near flush with the wheel well of the 997. YMMV.

Hmm do you think a nice trim and they'd fit?

On the 991s they seem to need a trim to sit in the corner of the wheel well.

Interesting....
So these redirect *some* of the air under the car out to the sides, I assume lowering the air pressure under the car for additional downforce? At the end of the day, what do these little things actually accomplish? Does anyone have any hard data? Especially if they are installed on a previous gen (997) car they weren't designed for in the first place?

I remember someone telling me a few years ago not to swap out to the GT2RS front splitter because it would "upset the aero balance" without the matching slightly more aggressive 2RS rear wing insert.
Throwing on these 991/992 underbody aero bits seems almost irresponsible in comparison !
