My friend has a couple of sets of forged black anodized CCW C10s 9" and 12" x18s that he used for his 2007 GT3, nice condition. Pretty much the strongest track wheels you can get. Let me know if interested I can put you in touch with him. He's in the LA county area. Almost everyone is or has 18's for track wheels for these cars, including Cup cars - no one I know ever used 19s so you might find it hard to find used 19 track wheels.

19s have more tire options these days ^^^^ . Most of us that are tracking are running 19s

Not to say that there aren't benefits of running 18s (weight and sidewall)

OP: just buy some e88s for street and run OEM setup on track, everybody knows e88s are just car jewelry nowadays

Apex wheels seem to be a reasonable track wheel option

as the others have said. 19 is the new 18 sadly. Stock cars coming with 20 and 21 now.

haha I hear you. Have had e88. Feel like it’s all I see now though. May just go Apex. Was seeing if anything cheap and local

do you want a Cobb? HMU, have this thing sitting on shelf, you can cheat and run e85 or 100 octane LOL

18's are best but tire selection is very limited, nittos, hoosier, slicks, r888r... the 19s have a lot more options.

I've been thinking about this thread and researching trackday tire options for my car (997.1GT2) and have come to this conclusion as well. 18’s are actually best for our cars. In a nutshell, each successive generation of 911 has gotten bigger, so the diameter of the wheels follows suit. Great for the 991 or 992, but not necessarily what works best for our cars. Naturally, the tire manufacturers want to concentrate on the newer models and sizes, so unfortunately, our tire selection in 18” is comparatively limited these days

However, based on my past experience with other cars running some of these tire options, and the feedback of many people of what they prefer on their 997’s, Ive narrowed my list down to Nitto NT01; Toyo Proxes R888R; or Nankang AR-1, even before looking into the 18/19 size availability. Happily, each of these three options are produced in the sizes I am planning to get for my car:

245/40/18
335/30/18

So, the plan would be a set of one of the above options for occasional dry trackdays, and keep running PS4s on the stock wheels for the street and perhaps rainy track days. What say the trackrats here regarding this setup and which of the three tire options might be the preferred way to go in this situation?

I have 2 sets of 18” Forgeline GA1R rims that I used to use to track my .2RS with 5 lugs (not center lock) that I would run with Nittos in those sizes I believe. Let me know if you wish for me to check. I haven’t used them in years as have moved to a dedicated race car since 2018 and just haven’t sold, but would be happy to do so if fit what you (or anyone) needs…. I can get more detail and text pics if anyone desires.

Looking good!

Which tires did you pick and how did they do?
Seeing how comfortable it was to take Magic Mountain / Phil Hill flat out was my quick and dirty street car evaluation trick back in the day at that track. Hopefully the sun came out?

got rt660 cause I loved re71r but the rt660 split. But they did feel good but don’t think safe for another track day. Ran a bunch of 1:56’s.
