Well I replaced everything with steel Motorsport synchros so I may as well put this on the list. I assume you put a down payment to get everything going?

Its cool to go back in time and read Dundon and Sharkwerks rap about this when they were engineering it… I didn’t know there was a 4.4l project in Germany.

particularly this article from Jaime http://performancedevelopments.com/g...-displacement/

Good luck w the build Stephen. I dropped into Sharkwerks today and had a chat w James there, (I live just up the road 30 miles away). I'm thinking of both the 4.1 build and the proper Trans to go with it. It was illuminating and exciting to consider this. James confirmed your build schedule, so it'll be great to follow your experience. Unfortunately Alex was not around, so I'll need to set a time to discuss my plans and thoughts in more detail w him when the time is right.

Best of Luck and please do keep us updated on the upcoming fun
Cheers

This is awesome! I love that you are doing this on a "collector" car! Once you come to the realization that a car is a "forever car" or "near forever" car, these types of decisions become easy because concerns about return on investment or impact on future market value become totally irrelevant! I will literally NEVER sell my 6-3 (not joking this time, I would rather sell every other car/possession I own and daily a the 996 before I would sell it). If I was even remotely concerned about whether I might be tempted to sell my car in the future, it would not be getting the 3.9 treatment right now! Keep us posted!

Awesome to see you here Scott. Hope all is well. The 73 RS's were likely also coveted in their stock configuration at a time, but as time passed, the mods to those cars became part of the fabric of the model, and eventually made less of a difference to collectors. Sure a pristine example will still fetch the highest dollar, but those others that were driven and modded maintained their value pretty well.

Great to see how much you dig your red 6-3. You have done an incredible job with that car, and the joy you get driving it sure comes through in your posts.

Thanks for the note Alex. I'll reach out to discuss.

Cheers,
C

No worries at all and here's a 4.1 orange crush twin from last year. I think not many folks know but we are doing 997.1's as well as 4.1s and have been (thanks to snowboarder54 a few years ago hah!):

Committed to SW 4.1L conversion on my grey black/red 2011 GT3 RS! mooty also has some BBS monoblock 5-lugs for "Ruthie" too.

Thanks mooty for putting me in touch with Alex, golfnutintib for the 997.1 GT3 3.9L SW conversion driving experience (mouth and abs still hurt from smiling/laughing too hard) and ChrisF for always encouraging me to pursue new car experiences.

Super excited! The wait will be long but needed one car in the garage to mod. Couldn't find any more rewarding to drive car in manual to buy in this marketplace. Intake will be YE2022 and done a year out from now. Will try and keep this post alive with updates!

Will get a wrap and new contrasting color after modification.

Pete Stout says the way the 4.1L Shark Werks revs is like the silver car in pic. Can't wait to have an opinion!

New wheels, 5-lug conversion to come with new wrap and livery. Can't wait to finalize plans!
This will be fun mate!

He's , snowboarder54 on IG for any of u IG fans. He just posted he's got 110,000 miles on that particular chassis on the white car, I think thats the one with the SW engine, or is it his pumpkin? either way, fun to follow such an enthusiast.

Cheers

Yep the one and only! He's the reason we ended up doing the R&D for the .1 to punch it to 4.1 . After 92k on his 3.9 from 2009-2016 we decided to open it up and have a look-see and rather than just continue as a refreshed 3.9 somehow he convinced James it would be great idea to have a 4.1 (similar to what we were already doing for the gen2 cars) In all seriousness the SC/TC nannies on the gen2 make the tq of the 4.1 a lot safer than in a .1. That TC is downright sketchy at the best of times and we won't do any engine build without a proper Guard LSD either. I don't think he's ever on rennlist anymore but was one of my fav posters back in the day! (like 2004-2008). Now I get to hear him whizz by every few days with his valves fully open and a 4.1 3-2 downshift around a turn by the house.

One of my friends, in my "hood" (whose is on here and u know), has the 3.9 in his 7.1RS and I get to hear that magic tone from time to time.
Better sound than a Britney Speers sings with Metallica concert lol
