This is a great read for those interested in understanding bore/stroke advantages for street and track engines...

Quit causing trouble. The clinic only has room for three of us!

If how long it takes them to build a Carbon Airbox is any indicator, maybe they wont even have the motor done in time for the challenge

Well I understand what your saying but now with "obummercare" we'll have to share a bed at the clinic. We'll even have to bring our own sheets or lay on a bare mattress like they do in Cuba.

Point of the thread was to offer up an explanation as to what kind of "big engine" you'd want. All bore, bore x stroke, etc... And like anything else, it's more than the sum of its parts...

And for some of us size does matter

4.2>4.15>4.1

But in the end it is what you do with it...

Sounds like long rod and bigger bore with not too long of a stroke is best. What is your motor's rpm capability, Jamie? Power prediction based on design?

Designed to be capable of 8800rpm, but we need to see where it runs out of airflow. Should be in the 8200-8300 range and we figure an honest 485-495whp or so. Maybe I'll be surprised and get over 500whp on an NA engine... We'll see...

Thanks for posting this Jamie.

Nice to have good information available you can understand. Not many are prepared to share this stuff. Not surprised based on where this came from.
