****ty wording it seems… in CA (most states?) you have to get a rebuilt/new title after a salvage process. IIRC… The pink slip / title should state “rebuilt” on it.

Lots of insurance companies are recently selling their salvage cars with clean clear titles. The damage history is listed as part of the NMVTIS database. So it will show up on all the "Carfax" type reports. This is just another way for the insurance companies to make more money on the salvage sale. Buyers get a clear title, but it might as well be salvage when it shows record type "Junk and Salvage" in the history report. This is causing the salvage car prices to go up. However, I doubt that the resale of these vehicles will do any better than a "rebuilt" title car. Oh, and they are only doing this on high value cars.
