hows sls black series? Worth the delta against regular sls?
To me it’s a must have in the collection. Probably not worth triple money of regular SLS (performance wise), but I will not be able to find a 800 miles SLS BS down the road, speciales are much easier to find the spec I desired.
Lots of Spyder fans. I see the appeal and I like the way they look. Never driven one however.
Is the experience that much removed from GT3 / GT3 RS? On the street...Sunday drive, not on track, of course. And sure, mid-engine, vert etc. But the dash/interior finishes are so similar and that Porsche feel, I'd think if you wanted something different you'd have to look elsewhere?
Different than the RS. Clutch is lighter, engine doesn’t rev or decel as frenetically. It’s not as hard core a drive as the RS for sure but engaging and energetic.
I truly love it and best of all the wife loves it. She won’t step foot in the RS. Says RS is too uncomfortable and “rough”.
The 987 Spyder is a really fun car. A lot of bang for the buck when it was $50-60K in recent past. Who knows how much they exchange hands for these days, there are none for sale. I only see WTB ads. The one I'd buy and keep would have to be manual, full leather, buckets, PCCB, and not be black or white. But very few of those were made.
I looked at the 718 Spyder very seriously last year. By the time I had it configured to my liking it was almost 458 money at the time. The dealers I spoke with were not exactly willing to take my money at MSRP either. In a way they made my choice even easier.
As far as fragility, both my fiat and the beetle are MY2010 and at similar mileage ~30K. I don't baby either. No difference in build quality, if anything the 997 has an on and off door rattle that I've been trying to pinpoint for some time to no avail. But that doesn't make me like it any less. It's the one car I'd like to hold on to for as long as my left foot is unable to press the stiff clutch pedal anymore

Very few 987 Spyders were made period. I believe 1600 WW and 800 or so imported to US.
They seem to be creeping up into and over the $70k range for a nice PDK car and higher for Mt.
I forgot to mention this. Ultima RS. Seems like a lot of people forget about this car. 1200bhp with kerb weight less than 1000kg if i recall correctly. Road legal in US. 6 speed MT. More raw than anything. Id to scared to kill myself driving this.

718 Spyder is leagues above 987.
718 Spyder manual is one of the best street cars if you have twisities/mountains around you.

Sometimes a person's perspective changes even when the cars don't

They’re a fantastic little car and very fun to drive. Yes, the newer Spyders are faster and have superior suspension etc.. but the 987 Spyder is the original (excluding the 550) and is one of those few cars that is more than the sum of its parts. Drive one and you’ll understand.
For the street they are plenty fast and provide a driver/car/road connection lost in the newer cars. I driven both.
I think it’s safe to say the 987.2 Spyder is among the group of best drivers cars Porsche made.

Just installed the Carawal sport exhaust too. Shipped from Belgium. It’s a factory exhaust that’s modified to sound like the sport exhaust. Mine didn’t have the sport exhaust from the factory. Sounds great. Not too loud. Just right for the car.
