Off topic but I couldn't resist replying...I managed to source a brand new factory Porsche Titanium roll bar (from Porsche) for my 991.2 GT2 RS...just wrapping up the install now...I think it may be the only GT2 in America with a factory Ti bar. I don't know if Porsche offered them as an option on the 997 but if they did...wow what a coup it would be to find one.

DAS roll bar here, I like the foot brace, which no other bar offers (besides OEM/heigo weld/bolt in), it's a beefy bar (heavy/robust). I also installed some harness reals and used ARP bolts for the connections, because why not.

not clear what you're talking about, re: foot brace - that's nothing I'm aware of nor is it mentioned from their site

For a harness bar, Cantrell or BBi. For a proper roll cage, you need it welded in. Which do you mean?

I have the GMG RSR harness in mine, fits well and looks well made.

I heard great things about BBi too

The "foot" of the bar is the mechanical attachment point at the bottom of the B pillar. All of the "bolt-in" bars utilize the seat belt anchor point in some fashion. The reason I like the DAS roll bar design is because there is a piece of metal (foot) that sits in direct contact with the floor of the vehicle (yes, it's on compressible carpet). So in theory if you had a roll over and the roof of the vehicle caved in, the hoop of the roll bar should transfer the forces down to the floor/tub of the vehicle. The bolt to the B pillar (not shown) in the DAS design is used to keep the foot/anchor point in place. The majority of the other rollbars utilize the bolt into the B pillar to take the load, putting the bolt in shear. I've never heard of, or seen any BBi, GMG, etc. bars fail, most bars in general are used for cosmetic reasons only. Anyone who is competing or racing typically has a full weld in bar. For my HPDE use and my budget, I like the DAS bar. If cost wasn't an issue I'd go with OEM/Heigo, which requires a more involved installation (remove interior, drill, weld, paint, install), you could also say that it is period correct for the vehicle, on the other hand a "bolt in" is 100% removable.

OEM/Heigo installation:

Nice work! Installed the BBi bar into a 991.2 GT3 and fitment was perfect. Love those seat inserts!

Received my Titan roll bar and installed it myself. Definitely was not easy [was actually a huge PITA]. When it was powder coated it got on some of the edges that interlock which then made it impossible to connect the 2 pieces. I had to sand down those parts to get them to fit right. Sadly, i had to find out it didn't lock up when I already had both pieces in the car. Total job took me about 7 hours with some breaks here in there. In the end I'm happy with it, but wish they checked if they interlocked smoothly. Secondly, it took almost 2 months to get it.
