The PCM on the .2 was updated. Outside of the improved functionality (bluetooth, better NAV, USB audio, etc) which I really don't care about in a GT car, it looks a lot better and modern. In contrast, the silver PCM with keypad on the 997.1 looks really dated.

Total worldwide 991 GT3's sold (including both GT3's and the RS's) = Approx 30,000 .... (of which approx 10,400 of them sold in North Amer)

I got my data from PORS9,... so I hope it is at least somewhat accurate.
Wow, the increase in GT3 production during the 991 generation is astounding. I think the move to PDK and Instagram culture are both factors that really opened up the GT3 market for Porsche. I wonder if 992 production will be higher still.

An RS is an RS.. I don't think a counter argument is possible to this.

Much like the RS 4.0 is an RS 4.0 and a Carrera GT is a Carrera GT or a 959 is a 959. There is no shortage of ways in which you can tie your moneys into a collection of metal parts bolted together into a car. The question is how much of that money do you want to be not working for you in a more productive way and this is certainly a personal choice.

Agree on Instagram culture. It has ruined a lot of things in my opinion. Things are no longer about what people actually like, it's about what other people think they should like in order to get likes on Instagram.

Regarding production though, I do hope Porsche makes as many as they can sell, within reason. It's cool to have the uncommon car on the block, but in Ohio, you're not finding 991 GT3's often. Sure, at a car show, you'll typically see 2-3 991 GT3's and 1 997 GT3. But if anything I view it as more owners to network and talk with. So there's pros and cons. If they make a bunch more, hopefully the people that just want to have the uncommon car (or Instagram cool car) will go and find something else and make the people with GT3's actual enthusiasts that like the car for what it is, not for being cool on Instagram.

Re: production, and like Ferrari does, build 1 less car than the market demands. All good then. Porsche has saturated the market with 991 GT cars both standard and RS. This is bad for these larger production GT models, and frankly not sure what that does to the older GT market in the long run. I guess smaller production helps to maintain value.

OK, time for a drive, adding miles and smiles

They do like to make the money at Porsche don't they? Why not. It's like watches. Panerai "limited production of only 100 pieces" over and over. Limiting it to about how many buyers there are. Then tweak the face or case, and it's wash, rinse and repeat.

Ferrari is kicking it up too. But they have a lot of new customers in China and frankly around the world. The greatest day of my life was when I sold my F430. Don't know why. First off, it was too big, second I didn't like the optics. I tracked it, my Challenge Stradale, and an F360 and they all felt just too big.

As you gys know I just bought the .2 GT3 and it's fits me soooooo well. Like peanut butter and chocolate. I'm not kidding you it's more exciting than I hoped for. Love it. My GTS is great, it may be almost as fast, but the FEELING. Driving is an event.

yep,... just driving out of the community at 30 mph for 3 miles gives me goose bumps. maybe its more about the "anticipation" & excitement for the days drive,... but either way, its a great feeling. I have to remind myself to breath
