Got a PPI on the 2008 GT3. Opinons?

Yes, RS’s have climbed handsomely since latter half of last year. BaT sold a 9k Miles Pumpkin for $180K a month or so ago. Beautiful car. I think as the tide rises, the standard GT3’s rise too. The white one in question here seems a great car at a very fair price. The days of buying these well taken care of 997-3’s in the $80’s and $90’s are behind us now. GT cars are moving up for very good reasons. Incredible sports cars!! Buy it, drive it, love it.....Good luck.

I have no doubt the RS is a better track weapon, but curious if any of its "superiority" can be realized on back country and canyon roads. I've heard some people say that the RS is rougher and louder (due to less sound insulation) on the street, thus making it less enjoyable. I have no first hand experience with the RS version, so I don't know if that's true.

Agree with the above comments. This is a great car at a good price. Buy it, drive it and enjoy it before someone else gets ahead of you. Also, you can’t go wrong with the best color!!!!

Serious question....for someone who is not looking for a track car, what is the benefit of paying up for an RS over a standard GT3? Is the driving experience on the street noticeably better? If so, how?

However, engine and trans is the same. For most people that I know, they want an RS because they're coming from a standard GT3 and want to try out the RS. They essentially want the next level of the car they already enjoyed.

Three Wheelin'
RS has sexy widebody, better-looking rear wing, LWFW, NO sunroof and a little more exclusivity. Those things aren't super important to everyone but they are pretty special cars.

Not to hijack this PPI thread, but since RS vs non-RS was brought up, I'll chime in on the topic. To me the higher price of the RS made no difference, but I picked the standard GT3 version because it was less conspicuous, without the huge wing and wild color schemes, and also I could never get over the rattle of the lightweight flywheel. As someone mentioned above, on the street, I could not tell the difference between the two, so I chose the one that I thought would be easier to live with, which to me was the standard GT3. I also have the .2, so no sunroof pretty much the same production numbers as the RS.

I had a 2007 GT3, moved across the country and got into a higher mileage, high MSRP 2008 and now (OCT) a 2007 GT3 RS.
the old GT3 had PCCBs (they're way better than steelies) and I feel like the GT3 was louder than the RS (same exhaust set up), it likely is not. I cannot say the RS is exponentially better but it will always be the higher desirable version.
I've DD all of my GT3s (though since the move, they rest in the winter) and the RS does not feel rougher, or louder to me. the throttle response is a little better (I like that) and the wing is much more to my liking (not a taco wing fan)

I am in Love with my RS. The 3 GT3's I owned were all 996 versions, so I can't compare the 997 GT3 against the RS. The RS is super sexy, those Hips!!! My 3rd 6-3 had Lt Wt flywheel and was heavily developed, my favorite GT3 of the three. Jumping to the 997 RS was a revelation. Fit and finish, Lt Wt flywheel, my car also has KW Comp. suspension, fantastic brakes upgraded 4.0 Liter Flywheel kit, PCCB calipers with steel rotor conversion, Race Recaro seats, body color roll cage etc, which is all to my style and preference. I also did not want a sunroof. I always felt a GT3 should not have the hole in the roof, but that's probably just me. I did drive a 7.2 GT3 standard, and didn't like it. Not sure why, it just didn't feel as alive as any of my 6-3's or the RS. I also didn't want center locks. The color scheme (Pumpkin) is super cool, and I love owning the first RS Porsche ever sent to North America. It's a Very special machine and I appreciate the work Porsche did to make it unique in the factory ethos... My .02

997.1
963 GT3 vs. 453 GT3RS
997.2
715 GT3 vs. 612 GT3RS
With under 1k units of each variant, I'd say they are all relatively exclusive. The difference in the .2 version is almost non-existent.
