Looking for opinion on 997.2 RS

OP, the premium you pay/paid will be made up in 1-2 years of appreciation on a 7.2 RS. Your enjoyment of ownership and driving pleasure will be priceless. Seems like a no-brainer. Along the spectrum of GT cars, the 997 generation will become the ultimate generation to own, IMO. Low production numbers, visceral driving experience, hydraulic steering, etc will make these cars highly valuable and unique. They hit the sweet spot in so many ways. Newer GT cars will always be superior in performance but time will show that the 997 GT cars are the GOAT. We'll never see anything like them again. Buy one before it's too late and they get really expensive.

Hey wax...my suggestion is to take your time. Of course it appears very few are disappointed with owning a 997 RS in any configuration, even fewer on this forum. Its capabilities and the perspectives of owners is well documented. Nevertheless, these cars will continue to come up for sale. If you're willing to pay 200K for one, find the spec for you in the color and options you really desire. There will be other low mileage cars if that is a factor. Having gone down this road before, and talking with a couple dealer owners who currently have one as a personal vehicle, I'm told a good buy on these is in the range of original MSRP, assuming the car is in good condition. Just sharing what I learned when searching for one. Good luck!

I "overpaid" for my RS two years ago and haven't looked back. It's a keeper. In the long run it won't matter if I could have saved a few bucks trying to wait for a better deal...
Just do it!

The seller, the previous owner(s), the condition of the car, and how close it is to your “ideal” spec are what I’d weigh the most.
One day, I hope to add a 997.2 GT3RS (3.8 or 4.0).

Thanks for all your input guys. Wiring funds tomorrow. Will be sad to see the ‘19 RS go. Amazing car but at the end of the day (1) I love old school (2) tired of the 2-3 year merry go round chasing the latest and greatest and the $ drain and brain damage fighting for allocations etc..(3) realizing that the performance envelope can’t be reached or even approached on the street with 991RS legally or safely (or for that matter any Porsche really) so who cares about Ring times? (4) itS really about driver involvement and enjoyment which analog cars provide in spades and they are an increasingly rare commodity.

And speaking on behalf of another white/gold owner...you're joining the right club!

Gorgeous car. Coming up on four years of ownership with mine and couldn’t be happier. I guy flagged me down on the freeway in a Prius from the fast lane to ask me about my car. Told me he had one and had 50k miles on it. Was so excited to see another one on the road and chastised me for only having 28k on mine lol. I love the white and gold. Here’s a pic of mine from this morning when I took it in for service
