The mounting centers on our calipers are different from the factory calipers, which means we need to squeeze an adapter bracket between the caliper and the spindle. Needing that bracket means we must push the caliper out further on a larger disc. Even though the AP Radi-CAL calipers are considerably more svelte than the OEM calipers, they still get pushed out far enough by the bracket that fitting an 18 over them is a tall order. if you're unsure, check your specific wheel with template in the link above.
That's too bad as just about every track/race application on a 997GT/Cup platform requires and is set up for an 18" wheel. 19s are generally only used on street or DE cars which don't need a brake upgrade from OEM. Bummer... Beautiful calipers nonetheless....congrats..

Thanks for the info. We've not measured a cup car. If someone would like to send us one, we'd be happy to take a look and see if our system can work on that car.

Yes, 18's would have been ideal, but not in the cards. As to needs, that is a bit subjective. We have supplied many kits to satisfied 991 GT3 owners who participate in DE, time trials, etc. Our kit offers numerous durability, convenience, and long-term running cost benefits, and our 991 clients tell us our kit was worth every penny. Many have set personal best lap times after installing it, saved a great deal of money on brake consumables, protected their OEM brakes from destruction, and won't have to dump money into their car when it's time to move on to their next one.
For other owners, our kit isn't a need, but simply a want. Among those, some just value the aesthetics and exclusivity of our kit. Our system obviously wasn't designed to just look pretty (our company has always been far more focused on racing vs. shining), but it does add a bit of street cred to the car, particularly given that very similar AP Racing Radi-CAL systems have won Le Mans on the RSR (and other cars).

I'm gonna use your templates to check the clearances on my 18x10 E88s. Will let you know the results. Thanks Jeff...

Thanks! It's unlikely they'll fit, but it's worth a look. Please just make sure to measure one of the dimensions on the paper after you print the template. Printers have a nasty habit of scaling documents to a different size vs. the original. Thanks again!

Update: Just in time for track season, our 997 GT3 front and rear AP Racing by Essex Radi-CAL Brake Kits are now available for immediate assembly and shipment. We've already sold several sets and I'm hoping to have more pictures install pics soon (including one gorgeous orange/black 3RS). Thanks, and let us know if you have any questions.

Please don't forget that we also offer 2-piece AP Racing J Hook discs in the OEM iron and PCCB sizes.
