997.2 RS clutch pedal and shifter
Although there have been plenty of discussion about these 2 things, I'd like to get first-hand feedback from anyone who has tried to improve the feel of either the clutch pedal or the shifter.
Clutch pedal - we know it requires a heavy foot. To make the clutch pedal easier to depress, I've read that you can use a 4.0 clutch, or a GT3 clutch (recommended by a well known tuner in socal)
Has anyone tried either one of these and did you feel a substantial difference?
Shifter - to me the shifter seems quite sloppy. If you've remedied this with cup shifter and cables, or any other mod, could you provide some feedback on how you like the mod?
Thanks guys

997 clutch is pretty light. you may need to work on your legs.
shifter is fine, I have every aftremkt shifter made for 997 installed as well as cup car version. the stock one is fine

you drive the 997gt like a Honda on the street, the shift and clutch suck, heavy, notch, and balky
drive it in anger, they are magical, perfect rifle bolt precision every time
for the 997.1, you would want either the 997.2 or the cup car 996 shift box/shifter. It has a much nicer action and less slop. the 997.2 and 996 cup shift box are very similar in design. what changed was they went from nylon bushings to bronze in those. so, I wouldn't change shift box on the 997.2RS.
You can do the cables , it will tighten up the action, at the expense of some noise in the cabin
the 40 clutch isn't any lighter than the 997.2 from a feel perspective.
Also make sure your fluids are fresh in the trans.
My advice is get it hot, go drive it in anger and then evaluate.

Cup shifter and cables here. Perfect, wouldn't change a thing. Using Cup flywheel and solid Cup 4 puck disc along with Sachs Motorsport pressure plate. Clutch is light, no issues...

The 997.1 RS shifter had plastic bushings. I changed mine for a 997.2 RS (metal bushings) unit and Numeric cables. Be prepared for significantly loud noises in your interior with the Numerics. They are big enough to support a bridge roadway, but they are noisy suckers. Never had an issue with the clutch. When I did the trans, replaced the clutch (at about 30K miles) with the oem units. The original units looked nearly new when we pulled them out.
