Default Flipping front shock upper mounting plate on 997.2 GT3

Anyone have any tips on how to get the studs out of the upper mounting plate of a 997.2 GT3? I am tapping on the studs with a rubber mallet while the car has weight on the front wheels (still on the ground). I unscrewed the nut so that it's sitting flush with the top of the stud for a larger area to hit and to protect the stud threads. I've given it some hard whacks but the studs haven't budged.

Any tips or better ways of doing this? I'm trying to avoid taking the upper mount off the shocks. I was able to remove the studs on a friends 997.1 GT3 the same way, but don't know why it's not working with my 997.2.

Besides hammering the F out fo the studs, with a rubber mallet nonetheless, how do you plan on rotating the plates with the shocks intact? I think you're looking for shortcuts that are going to take you the long way home.

Sounds like you've never done this before. The top mount plate rotates freely on top of the shock. Once you get the studs out, you rotate the whole plate 180 degrees, feed the studs thru the holes and retighten.

Every shop i know uses a press on the studs. How are you getting them out while it’s in the car?

Hamering the F out of my studs trying to take a shortcut? You're right, have yet to do that.
