Default Once Again: 997GT3 .1 & .2 Indecision

Hi Guys,
I know it's a much debated subject and some will flame mefor this, but I have to ask coz i'm really going for this:

Facts:
I own a 991.2GT3RS and a couple other DSG cars.
Now I truly need a manual car for when the mood strikes!

Given:
- 997.1GT3 at $45,000 (yes..) with 12,000kms
- 997.2GT3 at $90,000 with 18,000kms
Both are white, both are pristine condition never tracked coz we don't have tracks this side of the planet, maybe road raced (our roads are alpine and quite tempting!).

I'm leaning towards the .2 coz it's the more modern more equipped and... it's the .2!
Yes price is a factor with this wide difference, after all money doesn't grow on trees..
I'm reading many of you praise the .1-version for some reason but I'd hate to have a keeper and think I could've always gotten the 'better' one!

Slap me out of this!!!

Wael

Interior nicer on the .2. More power on the .2. Centerlocks on the .2, more of an issue if you track than if you're street driving except when it comes time to change tires. .1 seems to have a slightly more reliable engine with less harmonic issues if you were putting a lightweight flywheel on either car. Both will have coolant line issues eventually. Looks are subjective. If you want the .2, go with the .2. I have a .1 and very much enjoy it. No other car I would rather have within it's price range.

For that kind of money I would easily go with the .1 if it isn't a POS.

If those prices are real and the .1 doesn't have some crazy story behind it, I would jump at the .1

It's not like I'm in the market for either one of those cars. So take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. But 45,000 for the Gen1 sounds like it either has a Hell of a story or it's not real. It's a good 20,000-30k away from market probably; and that's still a good deal.. Usually that's because there's quite a story. I've seen once-totaled examples go for more than that. Good luck

Edit: ahh, I definitely don't know the market in your neck of the woods!

Without considering the prices, I'd choose 997.2

Considering the prices, I'd buy both!

The .1 price is real i assure you. No story behind I am sure, 100% clean and genuine.

Going to decide by end of month, both cars available, last comment by EMpunker is the best, buy both and profit out of the .1!
Just feel greedy going for the .2 and more humble accepting the .1 (not that the .1 is not any wild screamer!)

Haha Tough tough tough... when i think i got the .2RS as a starter,,,,, so whats the big deal just get the .1 and dump the extra cash on something else!

Noticeable power increase? Not tracking, street driving and lost of mountains..
How about handling / safety features / nannies / fun factor... between both?

Tx!

I don't think the .2 is twice the experience as the .1 to justify the price delta, so the clear value is with the .1. You get 90-95% of the experience for half the price. If you're hankering the .2, buy both, sell the .1, pocket the profit for mods!! Regardless, post pics after you buy. Good problem to have.

Any more info on that .1? A friend who's selling the car for that cheap as a favor?

If street-only, if you are indifferent on the look of either, I don’t think a .2 is any more “fun” on street than a .1 gt3. On track, .2 much better out-of-the-box; much more planted. On street, I’m kinda indifferent and maybe almost tilt towards the .1 because little more character/raw.

Like you mentioned before, you can find endless threads on any actual measurable/feature differences.

Anyone able to purchase a 'pristine' 997.1GT3 for $45K, and doesn't buy it to double his money in a real market, probably doesn't have the capacity to understand my opinion on the matter.

What's the market price of a 997.1 GT3 in Nigeria?

It's so much lower than elsewhere that it sounds suspicious! Do you know the country code of the car?
