Default 18" Wet HPDE tires for 997.1 GT3?

Hello all, I hope everyone is well during these trying times.

With my extra time because of WFH, I have been looking for dedicated 18" rain tires for HPDE use on my 997.1 GT3.

The rims are 9x18 and 12x18 and I would like to stay close to the stock widths (235 front and 305 rear).

The Hoosier H20 with the front 245/40-18 and rear 325/35-18 is slightly wider to get the necessary load rating.

The Michelin PS4S does not come in anything wider than 295 in 18". Same situation with the Continentals.

There are Pirelli PZero Rain race tires, but that seems excessive...even for me.

Are there other options WITH APPROPRIATE sizes that I am missing? Is there a different width I should be considering to open up my options?

That's a tough one... I went with the pilot super sports because they came in a 295. When I was looking the PS4S topped out at 285 (from memory at least). I decided to gamble that the 295 would be enough, and it turned out the guy I bought the OZ wheels from had misrepresented them and they were actually 11" wide. It was an odd turn of events that worked out for fitting tires. I use that set for driving around on the street, and now I'm technically a cheater if I have to autocross on them as decreasing the width isn't allowed.

Of what you listed I'd probably be leaning towards the H20. I'd maybe even call them on the phone and see if they thought a narrower rear could possibly be ok, or to understand if they run naturally wide or narrow.

Sure, but what street tire is 18" and offers something close to a 305 width?

The Hoosier H2O is only an H-rated tire. Not that I am really planning on exceeding 130 MPH in the rain, but I suppose it COULD happen. Obviously, something with a higher speed rating would be nice and/or required.

I have a friend that's selling some rival s 1.5 BFGs 18" 335/30/18. His are brand new, I think hes asking $700 for the pair, i think they would be $840 from tire rack. I'm not sure how great rival S are in the wet, but its certainly better than a non treadded tire. Not sure what your dry setup is.

Been tracking Falkens RT615k+ and for a 200 tread wear tire wow

SCCA spec corvettes have been running these for a few years with great results

I like mine!

I'm considering the new MPSC2 Connect 240 vs the Hankook RS4 for my DD / track tire.

Falken night make the new RT 660 in our size soon too

Recently did a rain and dry test of a few tires in a Cayman Clubsport. Granted, not your car but results should be similar. In the dry the PSC2 was the superior tire. In the wet with no standing water the Yoko Advan AO52 was superior to the PSC2. By a wide margin. With standing water the Yoko's were scary. Will hydroplane easily and would recommend a PS2 in those conditions as the 4s are not wide enough. If you can fit the hoosiers they will be by far the better tire. They are great in the rain.
