Default yet another GT3 tire discussion

Time for new rubber on my 997.1 GT3RS
There have been some changes to the car (I really did not like the oem setup, but maybe I'm unfairly comparing it to other prepared cars I've tracked):
- Ohlins motorsport
- solid suspension points all around
- semi solid motor mounts/ trans mount
- GMG Cup sway bars
- Brembo Steel (lol)

Looking at Michelin Sport Cup2.
- stock sizes are 235/35/19 & 305/30/19
- plus one is avail & would be 245/35/19 & 315/30/19

Some say plus1 is the way to go, others say the tires from Michelin are designed as sized for the car & should not be deviated from.
I'd be very interested to hear from those who run this tire in any configuration on a 997.1 GT3, and if you run a plus size what has your experience been?
Really don't want to discuss R7/18 since that, for the time being, would be another conversation.
Thanks in advance for any remarks, feedback, etc.!

Maybe a worthy read!

I certainly enjoyed the suspension setup guide they made.

...yep!
That's the one that made me question my assumptions about Plus1
Thanks so much!

For remainder of this year it will be 50-50.

I just installed the 997.2 sizes on my 997.1 RS. The new tires are 245x19 & 325x19 MP4S, and they fit perfectly with the rear 5mm shims removed. Car is aligned to stock 997.2RS ride-height (the 997.2RS has 7mm more rake than the 997.1RS) and suspension specs. I have Tractive/DSC, full RSS Tarmac series, 997.2 RS sway bars (same as 997 GT2), Guard LSD, 997.2 RS trans ratios, etc). I went two steps up in the rear because the engineering minds at Porsche decided that was best (as demonstrated in the 997.2RS and 4.0RS variants). Front and rear tires fill the fenders very well.

No push with the 325's out back?
- Did the 325 require an accommodation on the front sway bar?
How is it on track? better & how?
Did the +circumference influence your setup?
BTW, do you happen to know if the suspension on the .2 is significantly different (& how so) from the 997.1?

Thanks so much!!!
Greatly appreciated.

50/50, ok. how many events are you going to for the rest of the year? what kind of driver are you? how much experience? what are your expectations on track?

if you are a newer driver, I would just stick with a higher perf street tire with a larger slip angle.

if you are an intermediate driver any of the higher performance tires will be plenty

if you have a lot of experience you will be going through rears every few events. at that point, the cost of high perf street tires on the rear add up and you'll probably just want a dedicated t rack tire

Been tracking for a while.
Did not enjoy instructing though
lol.
This is not my first car & it's hung together pretty well for 13 odd years so I figured to uncork it.
But like I said, really don't know if I want to start punishing it with R7's at 9/10ths...
To your point, I have heard the MSC2's wear though quickly but thought to try them & see what with the suspensions changes the car really has to offer.
thanks for posting.

HI!
I'd be curious to have your feedback on how you like the 245/325 MPC2 setup on your 997.1.
- Did the car push with 325?
- How did the increased tire height affect your setup?
Anything else you could add would be very helpful.

OH! one other thing - how is clearance around the shock & sway bars?
I have gone to a set of Ohlins Motor Sport which may have different clearance issues than OEM so it would be great to know how close your new tires (esp. rear) are to the suspension components.

Many thanks in advance!
