Got a copy of "Porsche and Me" about 8 years ago.

RIP to a true legend indeed. To have created such majestic engines that give so many of us great joy is something special. We already celebrated Mr. Mezger as an engineer at the highest level but his passion actually transcends that a bit. It's fun to think about legacy when it comes to people who have done great things, but how many MILLIONS of people have expressed awe upon seeing Porsche win at Le Mans or to hear a GT3 engine being revved ferociously when driven in anger? These motorsports moments are imprinted upon us for all time, and will never die.
Can you even think of the many times you've stopped to explain to non Porsche people what a Mezger engine is? I take so much joy in explaining what a GT1 based engine is, and how both of my cars have them, not to mention SO many racing greats.
How about how many times you've gleefully revved your Mezger power-plant to 8000+ RPM (in NA form obviously)? This never gets old. It never will.
How many of us experienced emotion and awe the first time we rode in or drove a Mezger powered Porsche? I remember the moment like it was yesterday!
This man has created something that will live on to give us joy throughout our lifetimes, and will out-live all of us too. Our Mezger powered 911s will go on to excite more generations beyond us, and that is truly awesome!
That, my friends, is true legacy! Hans lived a life worth remembering, and used his time on Earth so very well.
