Mr Hans Mezger has passed away
We have just received the sad news that Hans Mezger has passed away. An engineer who shaped the character of the Porsche brand like no other and led to motorsport successes: Hans Mezger. In November 2019, the former head of the Porsche Motorsport Department turned 90 years old. We would like to express our sincere condolences to his relatives. Rest in peace dear Hans! We mourn the loss of an outstanding personality

Hans Mezger passed away yesterday June 10th at 90 years of age. Responsible for the amazing motors in our cars and some of the greatest engines of all time.

sad news for sure. He clearly proved himself to be a engineering legend, but I've read more that he was humble and generous with his time & willingness to share his knowledge. Rare breed.

In ‘99 I visited the museum-it was a small display compared to what it is today. I got to get in to a GT1 but they wouldn’t let me get in a 917 😅
set aside was an engine on a stand-I counted plugs and cylinders and knew I was looking at a 16 cylinder motor. A curator walked over smiling and we discussed it a bit, they decided to go on with the turbocharged 12s instead -
