Default Buyer beware - 997.2 GT3rs VIN: WP0AC2A9XAS783676

This car was/is listed for sale on this very forum, thats how I found it. That listing is now listed as sold, but the seller is accepting offers. This is the listing: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1179172

I paid for a ppi to be performed on this vehicle. Turns out there are a lot of undisclosed issues with the car. First of all, the ppi discovered what appears to be a ton of paintwork. Probably the entire car had been painted. The front of the car has clear plastic but an inspection of those body panels shows likely paintwork. Also bolts were turned.

Additionally, several body panels are misaligned including the hood, front bumper, rear bumper, rear tail lights. One of the rear taillights also has a very odd burn type of damage to it. It looks like damage caused by a burn/heat. The rear deck lid doesn’t close correctly and you really have to slam it very hard to close it. The hinges of the rear deck lid are not original, so everything is off. The entire fit of the rear deck lid is wrong.

Additionally, the seller has refused to return my deposit even though the deposit was sent pending a clean ppi and even though I paid for a flat bed to take the car to and from the ppi. I used the highest quality and most expensive tow service available in Connecticut.

The car community is such a great community and it’s such a fun hobby, it’s a shame when something like this happens. But let my loss be your gain. Hopefully I can help prevent someone else from getting burned like I did. Buyer beware. The cars VIN is WP0AC2A9XAS783676 and it was/is listed for sale in Stratford Connecticut.

Shame on the seller for not refunding your deposit - certainly given the fact that you paid for the PPI and transport. I will say that a $139K ask for a 997.2 RS with 20K miles seems pretty light although perhaps being an import makes it more feasible? Luckily you did your due diligence and you can walk away relatively unscathed.

I've found in life and especially with cars like these that you may pay a premium when buying from a known top notch operation, but sometimes the best approach is buying the best car out there even if it costs more than other examples. It may not be true all the time, but for the most part you get what you pay for. The good cars always sell.

Thanks for posting the VIN and PPI details. Not only does it help whoever is buying the car now but it helps someone in 5-10 years from now when a dealer is listing it and the seller is out of state.

Exactly. I just want to help anyone else who may come across this car. I am not saying they shouldn't buy it, I am simply saying they should know what they are buying and factor that heavily into the price and their expectations.

Someone in here said this seller was straight up and one would buy from lol . Why would you not want to disclosed damage?

Maybe they didn't know either? Per their FS ad they bought the car from Porsche CO Springs who acquired it from somewhere/someone in Canada.

As much as you'd like to give the benefit of the doubt to the seller, the laundry list of things the PPI revealed make it hard for me to believe any enthusiast on RL wouldn't notice the things that were reported. Seller has owned the car for about 7 months - not very long. Perhaps he only realized once he took delivery and waited to relist in the spring so it was in season and didn't seem odd that the car was for sale again so quickly? Carfax does show A LOT of interesting work between 15' and 16' while the car was still in Canada...

Wondering if he'll chime in here...

^ if he wants to sell the car, he should definitely address this asap . Otherwise, any potential buyer, googling the Vin will see this thread and will stay away.
