Default trouble with 997.2 GT3 blipping on upshift

Hi,
I bought the car a month ago and I'm experiencing the same as described in this thread

trouble-with-gt2-blipping-throttle-on-upshifts ,

Has anyone with 997 GT3 experienced it, can anyone tell me what is wrong with the car please.
Thanks Tal

Good question!
Also, how could a GT3 have a condition that only happens with boost applied to the turbos?

The following is a description from the referenced post:
"This happens under load and with boost. It does not happen at low engine speeds. It does not happen unless there is a large throttle opening. It does not happen without significant boost (.5bar)."

you're correct the boost isn't relevant, In my case when upshifting under load above 6000 RPM the revs blip up to 500rpm despite the lifting off the accelerator in the usual fashion
BTW I just sold a 997.1 GT3 , so it isn't the driver

Looks like its just from the lightened flywheel? I dont think its anything to worry about?

Looks like you're not getting off the gas quick enough. Ask you dealer to run a software diagnosis between the seat and steering wheel

It looks super annoying.... If it is from a lightweight flywheel, one of the software companies should be able to clean that up with a tune. Have you tried adjusting your driving style to see if you can limit that behavior by getting off the gas earlier?

I don't think you have an issue and like the other guy said I think it's due to not lifting off the throttle fast enough during shifts. Same thing happens to me from time to time. I recently swapped to a Cup clutch and it has a significantly lower MOI than my previous 4.0RS clutch which allows it to rev and decelerate faster. It also disengages a little earlier in it's stroke higher up near the top of the pedal which contributes to the problem. I have to be a more aggressive on the throttle lift during shifts otherwise the revs have a tendency to overshoot a bit. Doesn't happen often but still happens occasionally as I have not quite retrained my muscle memory. You can see this in the clip below at the 1:02 and 1:55 mark when you look at the rpm gauge in this video clip. The rpms jump up a bit during the upshift simply due to not lifting aggressively enough.

Thank you all for the replays, I'm sorry but I don't think that it happens as a result of not lifting off the throttle fast enough during shifts, I drove 997.1 GT3 with LWFW for three years and never had an issue, I'll get a data log to verify that what I'm saying is correct, I suspect that it's a damaged vacuum hose or a breather valve

The easy test would be to really exaggerate the throttle lift (right foot airborne) and lift really early.

The revs will be lower and if they still blip when your foot is nowhere near the accelerator.. then it’s probably something mechanical.

If the revs don’t blip, then it’s highly likely that you have the throttle still ever so slightly engaged as you depress the clutch (with a lwfw the lightest touch of the throttle will cause a blip of that magnitude).

The possible explanation for it only occurring under load is that the throttle is depressed further so when you lift there is more travel required to be completely off throttle.

Given that.. the difference vs your .1 may even be a difference in the accelerator resistance and/or travel, and less about the flywheel.

Interested to hear what you discover.

Matty

I'm interested in this as well. When I first bought the GT3 & went from my 964Turbo, I experienced the same thing, and attributed it to my right foot.

It only seems to do it in the first few months of ownership, and when I was trying to wring every last 1k rpm out of the 8,400 & I get a tad lazy with my throttle lift.

I haven't felt it in about a year.

Video clip really short. hard to see or hear what’s happening

i can overshoot on upshifts easily in my RS. Like powders vid (your turbo sounds great!)

Thank you all, as much as I hate to admit it it's probably me, this car is different from the 997.1 GT3 I had before
