My guess is you need about 50k to do this conversion right. OP am I close?

Do I detect a little pride in prior ownership? 😁

Were all 42K miles with the SW 3.9 engine? If not, how many miles on the build? Any unusual maintenance needed, or other reliability concerns? Does it feel solid revving all the way to 8800 rpm?

Here’s the update. Engine apart. Now the fun really starts.

sorry just saw this. Nearly 30k miles on the 3.9 no issues at other than occasional light white smoke at startup if car sat for a few weeks (which I hear is common for gt cars). Pulls hard to 8800 but I usually shift around 8200. Very happy with it will do the 4.1 down the road.

I love the white smoke on startup. Mine onlydoes it oncein a while, but I consider it a treat when it happens.

Nice. I'm thinking of converting my 3.9 to a 4.1 but I think the build time now is out at least 6 months....

Well, it’s done and finally back home. COVID made my plans to fly out and drive her back impossible. So, I used enclosed transport instead. The full list of work done is long. In summary, Sharkwerks 3.9 conversion, new battery, new oil pressure sender, new tires all around with a change to 245s up front, RSS Toe Steer kit, RSS Rear Link kit.

I’ve put 170 miles on her since getting her back. 130 to go before break-in is completed and I can push to the new rev limit of 8.8.

Initial impression: WOW! It feels like another car altogether. The one Porsche should have built. The power band is huge with none of the old dead spots. The rear stays planted and I can turn into corners later. Frankly, the changes are astounding. Looking forward to getting the last miles in and then hitting the new rev limit. Should be something else. Now if I can only find those Bilstein coil overs.

The guys at Sharkwerks have been great to work with. Unbelievably professional. Kept me up to date all along the way. Can’t recommend them enough.
