Afterall, I hear how much of pain it was on track compared to the .2. Anyway, it’s fun rowing gears. I’m an underdog kind of guy....
Even against the .1rs. If you're a seriously good driver the difference will come down a lot between the 1rs and 7.2 to be fair but you'll have to be ragging the 7.2 bloody hard to get close while the 991 will be able to bang out those quick laps repeatedly. It's imo a combination of all the 991's systems that make it quicker/easier to drive tbh. The aero thing is a bit of a red herring for me, it's the rws, dual clutch, torque vectoring rear brake steering, electronic diff as a package. Even on the manual 9X1 GT cars, they are much easier relatively to drive quickly than the 6 or 7 GT3s - it's a generational thing I reckon.

On my old 996 I had a new Toyo R888 almost do that in turn 12 at Road Atlanta. Turned and felt it wiggle a little with some noise there after. Pulled into the pits that lap and didn't see anything wrong with the tire until I crawled underneath the car. Underneath I found a huge chunk out of the sidewall missing. Couple more laps and I would have suffered the same consequences. Overall it was good times back then though. Loved how active the Rennlist GT3 forums were with cars being used on the track!
