all theee in the garage...I’ll take the 991 touring every time. My favorite car that Porsche made...probably my favorite car I’ve ever driven. I daily it, only car I drive really. I just don’t track it, I like it too much

I bought the 997RS for track days. Not a great street car, but absolute magic on the track...very close to 997.2 cup with paddles fun

I keep my 997 for the memories...too many to sell it....

but it if I had to have one car only..the 991 touring hands down
You’re still a bully. I’ll see how the 991.2 tracks. But for now 997.2 is gonna be the DE car. I’ll just enjoy getting murdered by you guys. Trakcar is bully # 2.

Honestly though, those were amazing memories. Had coaches tell me they had never seen anything like the FL DE Cup. Can you imagine if Spyrex and Mooty had lived locally too....

Remember Chris Harris showing up in Sebring and couldn’t get over so mane 997GT cars nose to tail, open passing.
He tried Izzone’s RS declared it a POS (lol, can’t make it up) and took Mikes RS for another lap.

Mike jumped in the passenger seat with me, we followed him out and I couldn’t keep up, trying too hard.

Or what happens if you leave a sharpie or colored tape laying around after beer drinking time.
Stuff like that...

I’d say 50/50.

50% went into 991 platforms for more DE.
Rest kept their cars or went older with air cooled.

Someone should really do a story that the DE Cup. I emailed Petrolicious a while back, but heard nothing. Honestly would make an amazing piece.

Thanks for the info on the oil temps. Pretty impressive what you get out of the box on the 4.0.

Memories man. So tough to sell cars when you have those fun moments or pit “parties.” Incredible nonetheless what a lot of people did with their cars when valuation wasn’t near the forefront. I was parked next to a father/son project at Canepa this past Thursday. After talking with them, you could have been fooled with the pure enthusiasm displayed and their love for this storied car which one would think was some rare RS. But no. It was a used to be clapped out, still rusty project 914 1.6.

I think the west coast version of this centered in NorCal, i was late to the DE Cup party, but joined when i could. In DE Cup ranking I'd be near bottom, but had fun. It was quite the scene in the red groups at PCA GGR or when Mooty did his private days.
In that group, some are racing, some still DE and coach/teach, and some have moved on with other car related hobbies. ALL are still car nuts.

Thank you for posting the photos and videos!
I wish that I cared more when I was younger, and had better computer skills...years of neglect and careless computer work and I have lost all my digital stuff. Now all I have my own analog memories and fisherman stories...

if you want to track, 991 is way better than 997. faster more capable and has warranty
for street, 991 vs 997 is debatable. I like 997, izzone likes 991 and so does lord reter

I am probably not as old as Mooty - God he's been on RL since April 2002 - joking Mooty... But I moved to a 991 turbo, modified it very heavily and been racing it for the past two years in time attack and hillclimb, it is by far an easier car to drive at the limit, and suitable for some of us senile >50yrs olds with the reflexes of a turtle. But the real satisfaction still comes from racing the stock 7 GT2RS on slicks against the latest 991s, ACRs and Ferraris.

Truth is, I got bored of the 991, it is too perfect, so got myself a 997 GT3 RSR turbocharged, for what is probably my last year or two racing.

Great to see you guys all getting together in the US, so many friendships were built through RL over the years and around the world.

I have been on since 02 as well and consider myself fairly young.
What do you consider old???

Why do you like 991 more on track and prefer 997 for street?

Probably one of my favorite track moments ever, rain was insane but someone left the Skip Barber skid pad open..... so we all went and drifted for an hour or two before they finally kicked us out (yes that.s a PTS 4.0 with a paper plate.....)

JP's Maritime 4.0 paper plated, little did we know at time how cool this thing really was.

Hoosier and rain, hurry up and wait.

The day I finally got one, just as the DE Cup was ending.

PS Driving your 991 Touring has really ruined me as well..... one day.
