Default GT4 Alcantara Steering Wheel into a 997.1 gt3

Went to a car event last week.....

There was a beautiful 997.1 GT3 RS (2007) with a alcantara 718 GT4 steering wheel, yellow 12 O'Clock Stripe.

Beautifull upgrade ! Forgot to take a picture

Anyone here did the same?
If yes is there a DIY, is it just plug and play or is there some modifications required (cable horn Airbag,....)

It’s the lighting. The wheel is an epic upgrade. Nice job.

Definitely looks out of place. Just re-wrap your original and make it a bit thicker.

I'm still playing with the idea to swap the steering wheel...as shown above

I know a nice gt3 steering wheel with airbag for 2600 Euro's ... but then it needs also modification for removing the paddles....

Maybe first try to find a new owner for this handbrake (It's by the way new):

The wheel is the best mod IMO.

If the conversion was a simple plug and play, I'd consider a 991 GT3/RS wheel swap. Smaller diameter/thicker wheel looks and feels miles better than the one in the 997 gen, IMO. With the paddles and airbag, I can't imagine it's an easy or inexpensive mod.

I have a thick wheel on all my other cars and feel that the thin wheel is better suited for the lightweight front end of the 911's

A 991.2 GT3 would be available without paddles for those who didn't know this.

Is the RS wheel different from the GT3 aside from the paddles?

No. The prior poster is saying that since the 991.2 GT3 is available with a manual transmission this wheel can be purchased without paddles as well as with paddles. Check availability on Suncoast.

Yup. I understood what he was saying. I was just asking if there is a difference between the 991 GT3 and RS wheels aside from the paddles? If I were to ever go this route (highly unlikely), I'd obviously prefer to get an RS wheel.

Sorry. Yes there is a difference. I believe only the RS wheels have the stripe.
