Open to interpretation... The typical preferred DME report he showed for a 997 GT3 was stage 1 and little else due to the 600rpm over redline to get into stage 1. The hours since clearly indicates no likelihood of damage caused due to time elapsed since the stage 5 overrev. And as he stated, the DME gives a reasonable indication as to how the previous owner drove the car... In this case arguably not too well...

I have 47k kms on my car, at least 1/3 to 1/2 of those track kms and I'm lapping within 2 sec of pro v8 supercar driver/instructor. I have 63 stage 1 overrevs on my car for comparison...

Recent PB at one of my local tracks on destroyed MPSC2s...

jcdeng mentioned a $119k number if I was going to make an offer. But what would others be willing to pay for a 2011 RS with around 27k miles (PCCB’s, LWB’s, sport Chrono, etc.) and the DME report that I posted in the first post?

I haven’t made a decision about making an offer, but I like the discussion and I’m open to all opinions. Thanks in advance.

You left out the PCM delete part, plays a big role in pricing and resell.

25-30k mile cars showing some or a lot of track use are ranging 132-140k

25-35k mile cars no track use 145-150k

You are saving roughly 15k because of Dme.

Its been many hours sine the over rev.

The big question is: Will you drive the car as comfortably as a car without the dme issue? Will you constantly think possible engine overhaul sometime in the next couple to few years? Will you question if the purchase was a mistake? Will it hinder your enjoyment of driving the car?

If you answer yes to any of these, then pass.

Correct, this one does not have the PCM. Wish it did.

Great advice! And importantly what are the intentions? Street or track use? If street only I would suggest the DME becomes less relevant...

Use the DME report to hammer the seller on price.

Buy at a very good price.

Take part of the savings and buy an aftermarket warranty as a hedge.

Do NOT sell the 993 to make this deal happen.

It looks to be priced with whatever anyone is going to say that would potentially detract from the car, already for the most part factored in. I don’t know of one 997.2 RS selling for less than $140k recently. They know about the DME and know it’s a negotiation point. In the video posted above, that’s some serious driving and I’d bet most of us don’t come close to that on these cars. I think you decide first if you want the car, then from there hammer out your best deal. Don’t go into this on the fence.

At this RPM several things can and often happen: valve float and collision with piston, and the flywheel / clutch get messed up. As others have mentioned, get someone you absolutely trust to run the #'s, and bargain accordingly.
