Default PPI list for a 997.1 GT3

Sorry for the NOOB question, but my forum searches are coming up empty (might just be me doing it wrong)

Has someone compiled a PPI list of checks for a 997.1 GT3?

I have started a list, but seems the smart people here would have done a much better job as it relates to unique items on the GT3.

Thanks.

whereever you get it done they'll have a standard form (if not, chose another place for your PPI) and check off the boxes as they go down the list

On my high mileage GT3, here are unique things that have failed that a standard Porsche PPI might not get.

Coolant hose coupling failure leak and need either pinning or welds. $$$

LSD worn. Numerous ways to check. Eventually needs rebuild. $$

Shock leaks. $$

Washer fluid leak. $

Sway bar end links break $

PSE exhaust broken valve / solenoid $

Worn alcantara

Worn center exhaust with rattle $$

By far the most high maintenance Porsche ever for me.
However, also the most fun!

How many miles do you have? Just wondering what is considered high mileage.

For me, I would say have a paint meter put on it. Check the DME for over revs. Check if coolant lines have been done. If not, budget $3k for that and then whatever else you are going to want to do.

I have 55k miles.

I arbitrarily consider any gt3 with more than 3k / year or 36k for my 997.1 in 2019 as high mileage

Excellent suggestions! Thank you.

I do need to better understand that coolant hose issue, but that's what the search function is for I'll do that tonight when I get home.

Yes. Paint overview is key as I do not want to have to do any body work at $90K+.
The meter idea is a good one.

1. if you are asking, then I assume you are not doing your own PPI.
2. find a good Porsche mechanic that will take the time and do a proper inspection. He should not need a list.

A few years ago, I test drove a 997 that I was considering. The suspension felt sloppy, the clutch and gear box felt sloppy, and the interior was not in the best condition. I did not explore any further.
3. take the car on a thorough test drive. If possible, meet where the car is stored and listen to the cold start up.

I am not doing the PPI. Clearly I do not know nearly enough about the cars to accomplish it with any level of credibility.
My goal with this, or any car I own, is to learn about the car. I tend to dive deep into the details. Hence my request.

If this was a Ferrari, I would just go and take care of it with the help of a local shop. The F-cars I know well. P-cars? not so much yet.

Best of luck with the new direction. Porsche make an excellent product, from sports car to GT to Suv. If you tell people where you are from, you should get some good referrals for local P-shops.
