Psorcery, please post up a picture of your findings. We are trying to get a definitive answer. I'm looking at FLT's tires and add that to what tire Rack stated and it looks like "NO" spec is no protection.
Thanks, the P40 is the last 12" wheel for that series, It is a great wheel that is pretty rare, these are actually Joe Rogan's old wheels of his white 3.9, the newer P40S was only 11.5", both are obsolete now.

Here are 325 Cup 2 N0 on my .2

psorcery, also post up date codes so we can rule that out too...

Did not read your reply to Psorcery until BweSteve quoted it.

The N rating means it is Porsche approved tire for handling, speed, ect., the second number denotes the tire generation. The original Cup tires ended at N1 which was second refinement/update to the tire. The newer Cup2 are currently gen1 with N0 designation with no known update coming yet. The wheel protection is typically found on the MPS/4 for the Carrera.

Ok even without Psorcery's pics, I think we can all assume that a Porsche spec tire will come without the rim protector. Great news. A few bucks more but from what I'reading, they seem to work better on our cars. Moving ahead with my order tomorrow. Stock sizing this time around.

Please post pics, N1 of what tire? Cup2 are still N0 or atleast they where. I think Michelin now has a US plant for Cup tires, maybe we can drag a tirerack rep in this thread brad@tirerack.com for some definitive answers.

mwar, you're gonna have to post up a pic of your tire so we can add this to our research pile.

Please include:

Tire size
Manufacture date
N rating

Thanks!

Cup 2s have many, many, different versions. From looking at the other tread the 245/35R20 Cup 2 N1 edition does have the rim protector built in. As for the 325/30R19 Cup 2 N0 does not, actually all of the cup 2s in this size do not have the rim protector. Ultimately it comes down to the vehicle manufacturer asking Michelin for the protector or not. If you have specific model sizes or vehicles you would like me to check, let me know.

Thanks,

Brad

OE tires I show to be N0 without the rim protector in those sizes and they are made in France.

Now for other versions in this size

This is Ford Specific version for the Mustang /w a rim protector made in the U.S.

This is the Ford Specific one for the Focus RS /w rim protector, and also the Lotus Evora Sport 410.

And last but not least, these are the ones that support the new Connect system.

Brad, what is this "Connect" system you are referring to above?

I read through all the TR info on those tires you listed, and can't seem to find reference to a "Connect System".

Is it some new type of TPMS that connects to the car & gives more information?? .... that would be very cool if it could relay heat temperatures (corny inverse pun )

This system does alot, here is a link https://www.michelin.com/en/news/mic...k-performance/

Basic Information:

- The Track Connect system requires 4 Track Connect Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires plus the Track Connect system kit (TCKIT - $499.00 Retail)

- TCKIT includes 4 sensors, a receiver, a phone mount and power cords

- The customer needs to download the Track Connect app on a phone

- Specific vehicles and tracks are preloaded into the app

- Based on the selected vehicle, selected track and the ambient conditions, the app will recommend a baseline inflation pressure

- While driving, the app acts as a coach, providing insight into vehicle behavior based on tire pressures and temperatures

- After each session, the app recommends tire pressure adjustments to help maximize traction and vehicle balance, helping to provide lower lap times

I'll take a set that supports the connect system. Looks like no beads on them either.
